The Clinical Decision Support (CDS) Engineering team, a unit within the Optum Insight Technology organization, is responsible for building commercial products that help payers and providers with administrative and clinician-focused CDS solutions. We are seeking a strong front-end engineer with deep experience building modern web applications using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript. This role will lead the design and delivery of intuitive, performant, and maintainable user experiences while partnering closely with product managers, designers, architects, and backend engineers. Full-stack experience is preferred so you can contribute across API integration, service collaboration, and end-to-end solution delivery.
Primary Responsibilities:- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain modern web application features using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Build reusable UI components, patterns, and front-end architecture that improve consistency, scalability, and maintainability
- Partner with product managers, designers, architects, and backend engineers to deliver intuitive, accessible, and high-quality user experiences
- Integrate front-end applications with APIs and services, ensuring reliability, performance, and secure handling of data
- Optimize application performance, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility across supported platforms
- Write clean, secure, well-documented, and testable code following engineering standards and best practices
- Use AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development, improve test coverage, and explore implementation options while validating output for correctness and maintainability
- Perform and contribute to code reviews, helping maintain high standards for quality, usability, security, and maintainability
- Collaborate on troubleshooting and resolving complex UI, integration, and end-to-end engineering challenges
- Contribute to CI/CD, observability, and engineering practices that improve developer productivity and release quality
- Where needed, contribute across the stack to support APIs, services, and end-to-end solution delivery

Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years in the software engineering profession
- 4+ years of hands-on front-end development experience building production web applications with React, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- 4+ years of experience building responsive, maintainable, and component-based user interfaces
- 4+ years of experience integrating front-end applications with RESTful APIs or other backend services
- 4+ years of experience with automated testing and debugging for web applications
Preferred Qualifications:- Full-stack development experience with backend technologies such as Node.js, .NET, Java, or Python
- 1+ years of healthcare industry experience
- Experience with state management, client-side routing, and modern front-end build tooling
- Experience designing accessible, usable, and performant user interfaces
- Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern engineering workflows
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with microservices and micro-frontend architectures and end-to-end integration patterns
- Experience leveraging AI tooling to accelerate development and improve engineering productivity
- Experience establishing best practices for front-end quality, testing, and AI-assisted development

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
