Full Job Description
As a member of Moov Engineering, you will build new and expand on existing fintech and payment systems that our customers depend on every day. The Engineering group as a whole is the backbone of Moov, continually improving upon and adding new features to make the Moov platform the best in the industry.

As a member of the engineering team, you'll:

  • Work on next-generation financial products
  • Offer your expertise and experience to teams of developers and mentor fellow team members.
  • Design and build production services using Go, Microservices, databases, and cloud solutions.
  • Create APIs and tooling to support products and services.
  • Reproduce customer issues with our tools and contribute to them.
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers, product managers, business development, and company leadership to solve problems and plan for the future.
  • Own the full release lifecycle from feature development to public and hosted release.
  • Contribute to documentation of the system.
  • Have a high level of self-reliance - be able to take a complex set of requirements and run with its development.
  • Contribute to Moov's growing agentic toolset.
  • Collaborate with and guide AI agents to produce high-quality, maintainable, and traceable code, utilizing Moov's agentic toolset and onboarding strategies to ensure the AI operates as a well-informed team member.
  • Maintain high standards for code quality, testability, and observability while utilizing AI. You are responsible for ensuring that AI-generated code aligns with Moov's strict engineering guidelines, including telemetry practices, proper error handling, and test-first design.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Engineering Craftsmanship

At Moov, we have a strong culture of engineering rigor. We value candidates who understand that AI accelerates, but does not replace, the discipline required to build reliable systems. Whether you are writing Go, TypeScript, or Protobuf, you bring a focus on correct API contracts, injectable testing services, and clear observability that AI agents need to follow. You guide AI to be a 'standard-compliant' teammate.

Qualifications

You have:

  • Self-guided building and planning of production systems.
  • Past experience developing complex software in Go.
  • Understanding & experience in microserviced architectures.
  • Experience using AI tools for spec-driven development. You understand that AI is a tool to be onboarded-not just a source for instant code-and you can provide the context, rules, and technical specifications necessary for it to generate high-quality, production-ready output that adheres to our specific coding conventions (naming, type safety, and testing patterns).
  • Past engineering experience working in the fintech/payments industry.
  • A desire to perform and grow as an engineer.
  • The ability to design seemingly simple and creative solutions to complex problems.
  • The ability to rapidly diagnose issues and implement immediate solutions in a high availability environment.
  • A high level of adaptability - Moov's needs shift rapidly, and a candidate must be able to easily shift gears and answer a wide variety of needs.

Bonus points if you also have:

  • Knowledge of one or more ISO specifications related to the fintech/payments industry.
  • Experience with database manipulation/optimization.
  • Have experience in risk/compliance requirements related to the financial world, with an understanding of how to develop features that align with regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of OSS tools and active participation in the OSS community.
  • A solid understanding of AI's benefits and limitations in the technical and/or financial world.

Technologies we use and teach

  • Go
  • Git
  • Docker, Kubernetes
  • Postgres, AlloyDB, Spanner
  • HTTP2, JSON
  • Kafka, events, webhooks
  • Microservices

Benefits include:

  • 100% remote. We make remote-work work.
  • We match what you contribute to your 401(k) up to 5% of your salary
  • Generous parental leave
  • Competitive health, dental, and vision insurance plans
  • Unlimited PTO, paid holidays, and sick leave
  • Learning stipend and a culture that encourages and promotes professional growth and development
  • Home office stipend
  • Ownership in the company via employee stock options
  • Culture of people helping people who give first, celebrate wins together and embrace autonomy, transparency, and trust
  • The opportunity to join an experienced and ambitious team passionate about solving customers' needs and who love what they do
  • Partner with a community of 2000+ developers around the world, helping them focus on possibilities vs payments

Salary range: $165k - $185k based on experience, geography and other key factors

Advice:

If you are nervous about not having the right qualifications, apply anyway! We hire people, not job roles. We look for talent that will help us push boundaries, experiment, and bring in new ideas. That means caring more about qualities than qualifications.

One more thing:

Don't go iron your clothes for your interview (do people still own irons?). We're all pretty casual here, so you can wear whatever you are most comfortable in.

Okay-last thing:

When you meet with us, have some concrete, tangible examples of when you've added value, improved something, created something, or done some fantastic, customer-centric work. We also want to learn about you as a person. If you want to know what it's like working at Moov, check out stories from our employees.

PS:

Share our job roles with others! Wouldn't it be nice to make new friends and bring over old friends? We think so.
