Senior Software Engineer 3

Position Summary:
Navius is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with 20+ years of experience to lead high-visibility software development projects that support critical government missions. This role requires deep technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to drive complex software solutions from design to deployment in secure environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead multiple software development teams and ensure high-quality delivery aligned with project goals and customer expectations
- Modify and enhance existing software to correct defects, integrate with new hardware, or improve performance
- Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical modeling to predict and evaluate outcomes
- Develop and implement complex algorithms that must meet strict timing, resource, and interface constraints
- Ensure quality control across all software products and enforce best practices in development and documentation
- Collaborate closely with system and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and assess system limitations, performance specs, and interfaces
- Oversee software system installation and monitor system performance to ensure alignment with operational standards
- Recommend and implement new technologies and development processes for high-impact software projects
- Select and tailor software development methodologies in coordination with customer and system engineering teams
- Assign and manage programming and testing tasks, and monitor team performance for adherence to technical and quality standards
- Act as the technical authority across all software development phases-from concept through sustainment
Minimum Requirements:- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
- 20+ years of software development experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership or team lead role
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing large-scale, mission-critical systems
- Strong background in software development languages such as Java, C++, or Python
- Deep understanding of algorithm optimization, performance engineering, and systems integration
- Exceptional ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex software lifecycles
- Experience in secure or classified environments is highly desirable
