The Role:Geologic is building a new cloud-first product, designed from the ground up on modern technology with AI at its core, and we're looking for a
Senior Software Developer to help build it. This is a role for someone who writes strong code, has real opinions about architecture, and treats AWS and AI as everyday tools rather than novelties.
Working closely with the Software Development Manager and the broader software development team, you'll own meaningful parts of the product end to end, from design through to production. This is a hands-on role with genuine scope to shape how the product is built.
AI is central to this product, not an add-on. By building real features using modern models and agentic approaches, you'll develop a practical view of what genuinely works in production rather than what demos well.
As a Senior Software Developer, you will design and build significant parts of our new cloud-first product on AWS, taking features from concept through to production and owning them once they're live. The role requires the ability to make architectural decisions within your area, weigh trade-offs honestly, and establish patterns the rest of the team will build on.
You take pride in raising the bar for quality. When timelines are demanding, your judgment on what to build, what to simplify, and what to defer will be a big part of the value this role brings.
Ready to apply? Here's what we're looking for: - A strong, hands-on software developer with several years of professional experience building and running production software
- Solid experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS: compute, storage, authentication and identity, networking, security, and cost-aware design
- Reviewing code and designs
- Mentoring less experienced developers; helping the team deliver at pace without compromising long-term maintainability.
- A sound sense for what good code and good architecture look like, and the judgment to know when to keep things simple
- Practical experience building with AI and modern models, including agentic approaches, or a clear ability to pick this up quickly
- Fluency with modern, current-generation tech stacks
- Experience owning features end to end, including what happens after they ship
- A willingness to mentor and review, and to help the people around you get better
- Full-stack development experience with Angular/TypeScript and Python/Flask, along with PostgreSQL, REST API design, Docker, AWS, Git, and CI/CD
Nice to haves:
- Any Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud technologies, including Lambda, ECS/EKS/Fargate, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, Cognito, CloudFormation/CDK, IAM, ECR, S3, and CloudWatch, along with Redis, DuckDB/Parquet, and OpenLayers/D3 for data processing and visualization.
- Experience with AI models (LLMs and foundation models), AWS AI/ML services such as Bedrock and SageMaker, RAG pipelines, or agent frameworks
- Background in the energy sector or with geospatial, subsurface, or large-scale data platforms
- Experience on a greenfield product from early build through to launch
