Full Job Description
Job Purpose

  • Developing requirement by analysing information, draft engineering specifications and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • This role focuses around development of software and systems integration for systems within the Advanced Safety Controls Division.
  • As a member of Advanced Safety Controls Division, your role would support integration of driving assistance and vehicle dynamics control technologies into our vehicles.
  • Our responsibility is to integrate systems into Light Duty Truck (LDT) development vehicles. This integration requires direct coordination with Tier 1 suppliers such as Bosch, Showa, Aumovio, Denso, etc. You take ownership and more of a leadership role when it comes to developing a function or feature on the vehicle.


Key Accountabilities

  • Manage a vehicle development project for system control specifications, actively maintain schedule and task list including internal, Japan R&D, and supplier (Global and Regional) schedules.
  • Review current electronic controls systems specifications and develop the functional requirements related to Controller Area Network interface, Self-Diagnostic, Failsafe Detection for each vehicle development. Write and maintain the software tools to match with the latest requirements.
  • Validate systems control software function by completing standard requirement testing on bench and in vehicle by proving grounds. Validate electrical hardware by EMC and ultrasonic testing, work with supplier to countermeasure any issues found. Perform supplier software analysis against the Honda requirements.
  • Analyze information, draft engineering specifications and evaluate their effectiveness for the assigned ASC function / feature set to ensure work of the required quality is delivered and approved by technical expert. Validate functional safety standards (i.e. ISO 26262) are achieved and approved by technical expert.
  • Negotiate requirements with the autonomous/semi-autonomous control systems teams and coordinate with design functions to ensure correct control specifications are applied to the drawings.
  • Coordinate with factory associates during build phases to ensure controls are achieving required specifications and lead system software/control issue resolution across Sales, Engineering, and Design.


Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Minimum Educational Qualifications:
    • Must have at least a 4-year Bachelor of Science or equivalent academic degree / diploma in Electrical Engineering / Controls Engineering / Automotive Engineering / Computer Science / Software Engineering or, a similar STEM field of study.
  • Minimum Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years of demosntrable relevant work experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Other Job-Specific Skills:
    • Basic understanding of electrical components, EMC and ultrasonic.
    • Basic understanding of requirements management, function validation, diagnostics, and CAN structures or similar micro controller communication structures.
    • Basic understanding of electrical components, EMC and ultrasonic.
    • Familiarity with control specification development
    • Hands on mechanical ability / understanding of vehicle systems and cross functional interactions.
    • Demonstrated analytical skills necessary to troubleshoot control system issues, propose and implement potential solutions.
    • Must have strong PC Skills (e.g. - Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project and other technical software)
    • Highly desirable: Prior experience with data acquisition systems such as Vector CAN tools
    • Desirable: Familiarity with ISO 26262 standard for functional safety


Workstyle

  • This is an onsite job. One remote workday per week may be possible with prior departmental approval.
