  • Actively engage in technical site/civil engineering tasks-including grading, drainage, utilities, and site development-while guiding project teams to successful delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key programmatic clients, building long-term partnerships and ensuring consistent, high-quality service across multiple projects.
  • Grow the department by bringing in new work, strengthening existing relationships, developing proposals, and expanding your own book of business.
  • Manage team resources, workload forecasting, staffing needs, and project assignments to ensure efficient use of talent and timely delivery.
  • Coach, train, and develop junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a positive learning environment and supporting career growth.
  • Oversee and support project execution from concept through construction, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Work with firm leadership to align departmental goals with company-wide initiatives and long-term growth strategies.

What you'll need

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a department or project team, including mentoring staff and managing resources.
  • Proven programmatic client experience, with success managing multi-project or multi-year client relationships.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills - able to articulate detailed engineering concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Track record of business development, strategic networking, or developing a book of business.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical work with big-picture planning and team management.
