SENIOR CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULERThe Senior Planning & Scheduling Manager performs non-routine planning and scheduling assignments that require the selection and application of complex scheduling principles and techniques on complex large commercial construction projects.
Qualifications:Required:- 10+ years of construction & scheduling experience
- Working knowledge of 4D visual planning methodologies
- Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and project delivery methods.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of cost and resource loaded schedules and claims avoidance and resolution techniques
- Competence in Primavera P6
- With a Bachelor's Degree must have 24 months of experience or without a Bachelor's Degree must have 6 years of experience with each of the following:
(1) Construction or engineering project scheduling to include interfacing with owner review task meetings and materials procurement scheduling
(2) Schedule construction projects independently and without oversight and involve maintaining and updating schedules
(3) Use knowledge of construction plans and engineering specifications, codes, and standards;
(4) Reading, reviewing, and interpreting construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts/general conditions, at all levels of design to identify scheduling issues; and
(5) Working with the scheduling and project management software program Primavera P6.
Preferred:- Master's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field
- 15+ years of construction & scheduling experience
- Experience with federal projects and government scheduling protocols (if applicable)
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) or other project controls tools
- OSHA 10/30 certification or familiarity with safety practices
Office and Travel:Works in regional office with periodic regional travel. In addition to regional meetings and some overnight travel may be required.
Responsibilities and Tasks:- Understand and implement accepted Planning & Scheduling best practices
- Lead the planning effort alongside Project Manager and McGough Schedule Department. Collaborate and make recommendations to project management team in planning the work, including developing Work-Breakdown Structure (WBS), durations, and sequencing the work (hard restraints and soft restraints)
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and construction related documents in preparation and acceptance of usable Baseline schedules for construction
- Monitor project schedules being developed and updated by Operations staff and provide support and guidance as necessary
- Interact with the Operations team and represent McGough Construction in the best manner to owners, subcontractors, and their representatives
- Support the development of conceptual bid and proposal schedules with Operations staff and present to selection committees if required
- Utilize analytics to identify and report on project trends and support with risk mitigation
- Effectively cost and manpower load schedules for use during the execution of the project
- Prepare reporting from schedules including EVA analysis, integration of cost and schedule
- Evaluate the actual construction status relative to proposed plan
- Analyze and communicate the impact of potential and actual changes to the schedule
- Prepare Time Impact Analyses per recommended practices by commonly accepted standards
- Assist project teams to develop "what if" scenarios to explore alternate sequencing, document, mitigate or avoid schedule delays
- Develop detailed construction schedules using Primavera P6
- Interact with project teams to define scope of work to develop and update detailed schedules
- Coordination with non-construction processes i.e. submittals, design and permitting progress
- Work with our Last Planner team and project teams to gather weekly work plans from subcontractors and update weekly work plans
- Participate in weekly subcontractor meetings on various projects
- Identify and track project constraints
- Evaluate project schedule progress and performance and identify developing problem areas
- Analyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend work-around
- Participate in Lean events and support of the McGough way
- Responsible for special projects and other departmental duties as necessary
