Job Description

Leads high-impact strategic process excellence team for Global Polymers. Collaborates with manufacturing plants and wide range of technical areas to drive improvements across Process Safety, Opportunity and Operational Cost, Productivity, Quality and Service. Provides advanced technical expertise in manufacturing operations, drives process technology transformation & innovation. Manages CAPEX and non-CAPEX projects. Manages scale-up & commercialization, supporting product launching and business growth. Leads and develop process engineers and technical team members across the region while promoting best practice sharing across the organization.

Shift: Days, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

25% Travel.

This position is also eligible for bonus and long-term incentive compensation awards based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company's applicable plans.

Responsibilities

Key Areas of activity
  • Process Engineering & Improvement
  • Monitors and Identifies value creation opportunities within manufacturing/operations
  • Manages project pipeline and resource prioritization
  • Leads execution of projects focused on manufacturing process improvement
  • Support sites with reactive chemistry, process safety management, and coating manufacturing process expertise


Process Development & Innovation
  • Manages process design with focus on advanced/new technologies
  • Leads simplification for new and existing processes
  • Leads introduction of breakthrough process technologies
  • Define requirements and validate new process equipment


New Formula Introduction & Scale-up
  • Collaborate with R&D and technical teams on new formula development
  • Owns all New Formula Introduction to manufacturing plants
  • Manages all process and formula changes
  • Ensures process stability on industrial scale and coordinate hand-over to manufacturing sites


Quality Performance
  • Drive quality improvement on manufacturing process
  • Define and implement standard ways of working / standard operating procedures and conditions
  • Ensures process capability to deliver product specification and performance
  • Interface with wider quality organization within GSC and BU


CAPEX
  • Support CAPEX project with process inputs/knowledge
  • Support new equipment/line/plant start-ups
  • Interface with engineering and other technical areas for best-in-class process solutions


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 15+ years progressive experience in technical, process engineering and/or operations management
  • Knowledge of reactive chemistry including resin manufacturing
  • Must have prior experience managing Profit and Loss (P&L), and corporate financial acumen
  • Must have PC skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends.
  • Must have previous experience/knowledge of coating or chemical processing
  • Must have previous experience implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc. to drive improvement.
  • Must have demonstrated strong leadership, team building and people development
  • Must have ability to work across sites and functions for standardization
  • Must have Process Safety Management experience
  • Must have CAPEX project experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Chemical Engineering experience preferred
  • At least fifteen (15) years of progressive technical, process engineering and operations management experience preferred
  • Green belt certification or higher preferred
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with a strategic vision preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills across all organization levels preferred
  • A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible is preferred
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills is preferred
  • Ability to work with teams and lead decision making processes in a team environment is preferred
  • Ability to drive for results, champion change and innovation is preferred
