Sr. QA / SDET Manager
We are seeking a Sr. QA/SDET Manager to lead our quality engineering organization, owning test strategy across manual testing, automation, and application security testing while managing a globally distributed team across onsite, offshore, and nearshore locations.
Key Responsibilities
• Builds, leads, and mentors a QA/SDET organization spanning onsite, offshore, and nearshore team members and third-party vendor/partner resources.
• Defines and evolves the quality engineering strategy, test methodology, and QA maturity roadmap.
• Establishes test planning, entry/exit criteria, defect management, and release-readiness (go/no-go) processes.
• Owns the automation strategy and framework architecture across UI, API, and services layers, increasing automated regression coverage and reducing manual test effort.
• Oversees functional, regression, exploratory, UAT, and end-to-end manual testing across web, mobile, and backend/API systems.
• Owns or coordinates application security testing activities, including SAST, DAST, software composition analysis (SCA), and periodic penetration testing, in partnership with InfoSec.
• Drives quality metrics and reporting - test coverage, defect density/escape rate, automation ROI, and MTTR - for engineering and business leadership.
• Manages performance, career development, hiring, and staffing plans for direct reports and matrixed offshore/nearshore resources.
• Partners with Engineering, Product, DevOps, and InfoSec to align on release schedules, quality gates, and risk-acceptance decisions.

• The Technical Expert: Maintains hands-on fluency in test automation frameworks and architecture, guiding SDETs and evaluating the right tools for the job.
• The Strategic Quality Partner: Translates business risk and release goals into clear test standards, metrics, and go/no-go criteria.
• The Cross-Functional Collaborator: Partners effectively with Engineering, Product, DevOps, and InfoSec to embed quality and security throughout the SDLC.
Qualifications
• Experience:
o 8+ years of experience in software quality assurance/engineering, including both manual testing and test automation, with 5+ years directly managing QA/SDET teams.
o Experience managing globally distributed teams across onsite, offshore, and nearshore models, including matrixed and third-party vendor/outsourced resources.
o Experience in financial services, lending, or fintech environments preferred, with familiarity with relevant regulatory and compliance considerations.
• Education:
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
o QA/testing certifications such as ISTQB (Foundation/Advanced) or Certified Agile Tester are a plus.
• Skills & Abilities:
o Hands-on experience designing and building test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, RestAssured, or similar) for web, API, and/or mobile testing.
o Strong understanding of QA methodologies, Agile/Scrum SDLC practices, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
o Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Zephyr, TestRail, qTest, Azure Test Plans).
o Experience with performance/load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, k6, Gatling).
o Proven experience managing vendor/outsourcing relationships for offshore/nearshore QA delivery.
o Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-time-zone collaboration skills.
Location & Work Schedule
• Location: This role is based in our Tempe, AZ office and leads a globally distributed QA/SDET team across onsite, offshore, and nearshore locations. We are open to considering candidates located near Coppell, TX and Chadds Ford, PA.
• Schedule: Standard business hours with flexibility required to coordinate across global time zones and support release schedules as business needs dictate.
