  • Work autonomously in the field or support a field crew as needed.

Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Surveyor in our Leesburg, VA office. Candidate must be responsible, highly motivated, and a detail-oriented individual interested in joining our Land Surveying department. Must be able to work in a team environment as a key member of a professional surveying staff assisting in the performance of boundary, ALTA, topographic, platting, right-of way acquisition, transmission line, transportation, and construction surveys utilizing the latest equipment and surveying technology. 

 

This position has opportunity for advancement for a motivated individual willing to grow with the changing skills and technology required of a Professional Land Surveyor.  

 

Responsibilities
  • Assist the survey project manager with all aspects of the daily office workload.
  • Schedule and communicate workload status to Project Manager in order to meet all deadlines.
  • Daily uploading and downloading of data collectors and reduction of files.
  • Survey computations for boundary and topographic surveys and construction stakeout.
  • Draft Boundary, ALTA, topographic, house location surveys and record plats.
  • Continually advance knowledge with upgrades with software and technology.
  • Work independently as a one-person field crew or assist field crew as required.
  • Recognize and work in a safe manner to comply with all safety regulations.
  • Cutsheet preparation on a daily or as needed basis.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Must have High School Diploma. College degree preferred.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong AutoCAD drafting and computing skills.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be willing and able to do short term travel.
  • Must be proficient with land record research.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have diverse survey experience including: Boundary surveys, topographic surveys, GPS control surveys, construction stakeout for residential and commercial projects and cutsheets.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
  • Must pass a mandatory drug test.
  • Proficient with Carlson Survey, Carlson SurvCE and Trimble Business Center software is a plus.
  • Experience with VDOT surveys is a plus.
  • Experience with laser scanning is a plus.
  • Experience with 3D survey drawings a plus.
  • Experience with Civil 3D a plus.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance is a plus.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $112,000-$144,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
