Full Job Description

The successful candidate will be more than a scheduling specialist. They will serve as a trusted advisor to the Owner and the project management team, helping drive execution strategy, identifying risks and opportunities, and supporting informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

In this role, the individual will lead the development, maintenance, analysis, and reporting of integrated cost and resource-loaded schedules in Primavera P6 and will act as the owner of the Program Master Schedule. The position supports program controls, progress and performance management, contractor oversight, interface coordination, and executive decision-making across the program.

This position is ideal for an experienced planning professional with a strong understanding of project delivery, construction methodologies, and project controls within the hydropower, power generation, energy, mining, industrial, transmission, renewable energy, or major infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Scheduling
  • Own, develop, and maintain the Program Master Schedule in Primavera P6 in coordination with the program team.
  • Lead the development of integrated project schedules from concept through execution and project closeout.
  • Develop and integrate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Establish schedule logic, critical paths, milestones, constraints, resource requirements, and execution strategies.
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and governance of integrated baseline schedules aligned with program controls requirements, ensuring integration of scope, cost, progress measurement, and reporting structures.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineering leads, procurement teams, construction managers, contractors, and the Owner to develop realistic and achievable project plans.
  • Validate project execution strategies and ensure schedules accurately reflect project scope and delivery requirements.
  • Establish and maintain baseline schedules and the schedule management plan.

Contractor Oversight and Interface Coordination
  • Produce and report cost and resource-loaded work schedules that coordinate interfaces across multiple contractors and third parties.
  • Provide technical support and oversight to contractors, including validation of scheduling methodologies, resource and cost loading, activity durations, logic, float, and critical path.
  • Analyze contractor schedules to ensure alignment with contractual milestones, predict completion dates, and confirm that reported progress is accurately reflected.
  • Identify schedule deficiencies such as logic gaps, unrealistic sequencing, excessive durations, and other conditions that compromise reporting and forecast reliability.
  • Confirm contractor schedule submittals comply with the project's Owner's Requirements for scheduling, including software settings, coding structure, Work Breakdown Structure, and submittal format.
  • Maintain schedule integrity across the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning interfaces between contractors and the Owner.

Schedule Analysis and Controls
  • Maintain and update project schedules based on actual progress and forecast information.
  • Perform critical path, longest path, float, productivity, and schedule performance analyses.
  • Identify schedule risks, constraints, and opportunities, and recommend mitigation or recovery strategies.
  • Conduct what-if analyses and scenario planning to evaluate alternative execution approaches.
  • Assess the schedule impacts of scope changes, delays, productivity issues, and emerging project risks.
  • Support change management processes through schedule impact assessments and recovery planning.
  • Review and enhance planning processes, including look-ahead scheduling, to drive more advanced and proactive solutions.

Reporting and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Facilitate schedule review meetings with the Owner, contractors, and internal project teams.
  • Prepare clear schedule narratives, variance analyses, and executive-level reports that support informed decision-making.
  • Communicate schedule status, risks, and required corrective actions to project leadership and Owner stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate schedule data in a centralized system of records to ensure consistency and reliability of project reporting.
  • Support and mentor project staff on planning and scheduling best practices as needed.

  • Minimum 20 years of planning and scheduling experience supporting large, complex capital projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 Professional, including cost- and resource-loaded CPM schedules.
  • Extensive knowledge of CPM scheduling principles and schedule analysis techniques, including critical path and longest path analysis, float management, and schedule quality assessment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in construction project planning for large, complex infrastructure programs, including development and governance of a master or program-level schedule.
  • Experience with integrated project controls, including contractor schedule review and oversight.
  • Working knowledge of earned value management, schedule delay analysis, and evaluation of contractor time-related claims.
  • Ability to perform detailed schedule and risk assessments and to translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver concise schedule narratives and build effective working relationships with Owner, contractor, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site, co-located with the Owner's project team in the Phoenix metropolitan area, for the duration of the assignment.
