Scope of Position

Functions as a scheduling system and process technical lead. Effectively manages and oversees planning and scheduling operations for large, complex projects with project and market teams. Focuses on scheduling analysis, risk mitigation, and claims avoidance. Assists in leading training efforts regarding scheduling systems, processes, and utilization. Mentors Scheduler I and II team members in professional growth, schedule competencies, and CPM analytical functions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate full competency in the system scheduling tools and scheduling best practices.
  • Manage scheduling and planning efforts, including scheduling processes during project and program development and execution.
  • Understand the impacts of all contractual and project requirements and apply and communicate them to project schedules and processes as necessary.
  • Lead and ensure schedule data-integrity efforts in accordance with best practices and company standards.
  • Produce and distribute tailored schedule reporting to meet project-team needs and effectively communicate issues, status, health, and progress of the execution plan.
  • Independently build project schedules from conceptual designs through 90% contract documents, including commissioning and startup sequencing, across multiple markets.
  • Manage the full scheduling cycle to meet project needs while following Haskell policy, including actualizing and updating, reports, narratives, time impact analysis, and fragnet schedules.
  • Lead communication efforts regarding the schedule to project teams, subcontract partners, clients, and internal leadership.
  • Apply a full understanding of change-impact management and support and guide project teams as changes arise.
  • Successfully execute Basis of Schedule reporting for each project and present it to the project team.
  • Apply and effectively utilize resource and cost loading as required by policy; support project teams by providing data for forecasting purposes.
  • Demonstrate full comprehension of schedule analysis and disseminate schedule data as required to the project team and Scheduling Manager.
  • Proactively manage schedules with risk mitigation and effectively report to project teams, market leadership, and the Scheduling Manager.
  • Lead and assist with the development of training in scheduling best practices, processes, and tools in alignment with Schedule Department policies.
  • Perform peer review of schedules for integrity, quality, and best practices.
  • Complete, or be accountable for direct reports' completion of, quality schedules and progress reporting while providing direct reporting to the Scheduling Manager.
  • Develop, mentor, manage, and supervise schedulers.
  • Perform Time Impact Analysis (TIA) methodologies to evaluate change orders and time extensions through reporting and presentations.
  • Attend safety training and orientation to ensure safety is properly applied while visiting project sites.
  • Maintain OSHA 10 training certification and actively participate in the Haskell Safety Matters Program.
  • Travel, as necessary, to lead and support scheduling efforts.
  • Participate in industry events and conferences.
  • Lead and support continual improvement of scheduling practices and processes.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned as needed.
  • Supervise others.


Education & Years of Experience

Four-year degree in engineering or construction management, eight years of scheduling or construction management experience, with a minimum of 4 years directly related to scheduling, or 10 plus years' relevant experience in lieu of degree.

Qualifications

  • Multi-million- and billion-dollar project experience managing complex schedules and project teams.
  • Experience in a commercial contracting environment preferred.
  • Expert user of Primavera scheduling software, including cost/resource loading and analysis.
  • Solid analytical ability with excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to organize and manage complex tasks, establish and meet schedules, and maintain focus on goals.
  • Expertise in industry planning and scheduling practices and construction methods.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, team members may be required to visit alternate locations and therefore, must have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to do so. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The team member is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
