Senior Project Manager, SUE/UC, San Antonio, TXHalff is seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Project Manager to join our SUE/UC team based out of our San Antonio, TX office location. The Senior Project Manager will lead and manage subsurface utility engineering and Utility Coordination projects from initiation through completion. This role is responsible for overseeing project scope, budget, schedule, and client relationships while ensuring compliance with industry standards and company quality protocols.
The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, mentor staff, and act as a key liaison between clients, field crews, office staff and internal teams. What you will do:- Manage multiple, large, and/or complex projects simultaneously, ensuring successful delivery on time, within budget, within scope, and with minimal oversight from planning through completion.
- Liaise between project members, multi-practice teams, subconsultants and other stakeholders to make sure deliverables, requirements, schedules, costs and meeting plans are communicated.
- Develop and manage project work plans, schedules, resource allocation, quality control, and project timelines utilizing appropriate tools to track tasks, milestones, and deadlines.
- Communicate schedule and changes to all stakeholders.
- Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, resource allocations, and financial performance, including cost tracking, invoicing, profitability analysis, and timely client billing.
- Prepare agendas, meeting notes and project summaries.
- Monitor task completion status to identify at-risk project tasks and to develop mitigation plans.
- Oversee quality assurance and adherence to ASCE 38 standards (Quality Levels A-D).
- Monitor project performance, resolving issues proactively.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, fostering strong and long-term relationships.
- Prepare and deliver project proposals, presentations, and status updates.
- Identify opportunities for additional services and support business development efforts.
- Provide guidance on utility designation, locating, and vacuum excavation practices.
- Review field data, mapping, and final deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, technicians, office staff and field crews.
- Coordinate with surveying, GIS, and engineering.
- Support hiring, training, and performance management initiatives.
- Develop and manage project budgets and forecasts.
What you will need:- Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, surveying, geosciences, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of industry experience.
- 3+ years in project management or leadership role.
- Requires a strong understanding of fiduciary responsibility as well as risk assessment and mitigation.
- Strong understanding of ASCE 38 standards and SUE deliverables.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and teams.
- Experience with DOT, municipal, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with GIS, CAD platforms, and data management systems.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Combination of office and occasional field work.
- Travel to project sites as required.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions when visiting field locations.
