Full Job Description
Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for our Houston, TX Division. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and successful execution of large-scale heavy civil construction projects, including highways, roadways, bridges, and related infrastructure. This role oversees projects from preconstruction through final completion, ensuring excellence in safety, quality, schedule, financial performance, and client satisfaction. The position requires extensive experience with DOT and municipal clients and strong leadership of project management and field teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and accountability for large, complex heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Manage multiple projects or programs simultaneously, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and contractual requirements.
  • Lead project financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, forecasting, revenue recognition, and final project profitability.
  • Oversee contract administration, including change management, claims support, risk mitigation, and dispute resolution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with owners, DOT representatives, engineers, inspectors, and key stakeholders.
  • Review and interpret plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure full compliance and proactive issue resolution.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field leadership.
  • Direct subcontractor procurement, negotiations, contract execution, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety programs, environmental regulations, and client-specific requirements.
  • Lead executive-level project meetings, progress reviews, and client briefings.
  • Support preconstruction activities including estimating reviews, constructability analysis, scheduling, and risk assessment.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience managing large-scale heavy civil or highway construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with DOT or federally funded infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of DOT specifications, contracts, and construction methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage large project budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with TxDOT projects preferred.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • PMP, CCM, or PE certification a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol abuse policy.
  • Must be able to pass required pre-employment and project-specific physical examinations.
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairways; work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistance.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods on uneven terrain and work extended hours as required.

Work Environment
  • Primarily located on active heavy civil construction sites.
  • Travel amongst assigned jobsites.
  • Business casual office setting.
  • Outdoor work environments with exposure to varying weather conditions.
