Senior Project Manager to lead high-profile
Transmission, Distribution, and Substation projects for major electric utility clients. This is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned utility professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing complex engineering programs from planning through execution.
What You'll DoLead Utility Projects- Manage complex electric utility projects throughout the entire project lifecycle, including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Lead multiple Transmission, Distribution, and Substation projects while maintaining scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, engineering teams, and executive leadership.
Project Planning & Execution- Develop and maintain detailed project execution plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to internal leadership and utility clients.
- Identify project risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
- Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), change orders, action items, and project documentation.
Financial & Operational Management- Monitor project budgets, forecasting, earned value, and financial performance.
- Track project progress against milestones and key performance indicators.
- Coordinate project invoicing and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Support capital planning, resource forecasting, and contractor management.
Team Leadership- Lead cross-functional teams including engineering, construction management, project controls, scheduling, and QA/QC.
- Mentor Associate Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and Project Analysts.
- Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous process improvement across project teams.
Client Relationship Management- Build strong relationships with utility clients and key stakeholders.
- Ensure projects meet client expectations while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
- Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities for additional work and strengthening client partnerships.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of Project Management experience within the electric utility industry.
- Experience managing Transmission, Distribution, and/or Substation engineering or construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, contract administration, and project controls.
- Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel periodically to client sites throughout the region.
Preferred Qualifications- PMP Certification (or actively pursuing certification).
- Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Deltek Vantagepoint, EcoSys, SAP, or similar project management platforms.
- Experience supporting utility capital improvement programs, grid modernization initiatives, or infrastructure expansion projects.
- Strong understanding of utility engineering, construction practices, and project financial management.
