Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our national Water Management in Charleston, South Carolina. This role is critical to successful delivery of a high-profile coastal resilience program and to strengthening Arcadis' long-term partnership with our clients in the Southeast.

Role accountabilities:

The position will provide technical leadership, project management, and client interface support across an interdisciplinary project team, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, communication, and growth-oriented delivery.
  • Serve as a senior Arcadis lead supporting delivery of coastal resilience and floodwall projects in coordination with USACE stakeholders
  • Provide project management leadership, including scope, schedule, coordination, and quality oversight
  • Act as a technical integrator across civil, geotechnical, structural, and hydrology & hydraulics (H&H) disciplines
  • Support client relationships with the City of Charleston, USACE, and others through clear communication, responsiveness, and professional judgment
  • Collaborate with regional and national Arcadis teams to ensure consistent technical excellence and delivery standards
  • Mentor junior and mid-level staff and contribute to practice development and growth in coastal and flood risk infrastructure
  • Represent Arcadis locally in Charleston, supporting both project delivery and future growth opportunities

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications
  • 15+ years of professional experience in civil, coastal, or related infrastructure engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (preferred); related engineering disciplines considered

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include experience serving as a lead or deputy project manager on large, federally funded infrastructure programs. Familiarity with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) standards, processes, and coordination requirements is preferred. Experience working on projects in coastal or flood-prone urban environments is highly desirable. Prior USACE project experience is preferred, particularly on flood risk management or coastal infrastructure programs. A strong background in coastal infrastructure, flood protection, or water resources-related projects is preferred.

Experience managing complex projects and multidisciplinary teams is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills are desired, including experience working directly with public-sector clients. The ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams such as civil, geotechnical, structural, and hydraulics and hydrology is preferred. A growth mindset is valued, along with an interest in mentoring staff and supporting Arcadis' strategic objectives.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
