Full Job Description
Northern Star Resources is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer - Projects & Reliability to join our team at the Pogo Mine in Alaska. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, this role leads reliability engineering, project management, condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives across the processing plant, site infrastructure, and surface operations. The primary focus is to maximize equipment availability and plant uptime, improve asset reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and safely deliver capital and reliability improvement projects. Key Responsibilities • Lead Projects, Reliability, and Condition Monitoring activities in compliance with MSHA regulations and site safety standards. • Develop and oversee Reliability Engineering and Continuous Improvement programs. • Manage Predictive and Preventive Maintenance (PdM/PM) programs, including vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing (UT), and condition monitoring. • Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA/RCA), defect elimination, and equipment reliability initiatives. • Analyze equipment performance, reliability, maintainability, availability, downtime, and maintenance data to identify improvement opportunities. • Scope, evaluate, develop, and deliver reliability improvement and capital projects. • Lead engineering projects through scoping, design, planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout. • Prepare equipment specifications, requisitions, bid packages, contractor evaluations, cost estimates, schedules, and progress reports. • Manage contractors, vendors, bidding processes, and site entry requirements. • Support maintenance planning and scheduling and provide technical solutions to maintenance and operational issues. • Monitor project budgets, costs, schedules, KPIs, and variances. • Lead, mentor, and develop Project Engineers, Coordinators, Supervisors, and Reliability/Condition Monitoring personnel. • Drive a high-performance culture focused on Safety, Reliability, Operational Excellence, Asset Management, and Continuous Improvement. Qualifications & Experience • 5-10 years' experience in Maintenance Management, Reliability Engineering, Project Engineering, Project Management, or Project Supervision. • 3-5 years' hands-on industrial maintenance and/or engineering project experience. • Strong knowledge of Reliability Engineering, Asset Management, Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, Condition Monitoring, Root Cause Analysis (RCA/RCFA), Defect Elimination, and Maintenance Strategy. • Experience with vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing, reliability metrics, and equipment performance analytics. • Strong project management, maintenance planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost-control skills. • Experience in mining, mineral processing, fixed plant, processing plants, heavy industry, or industrial maintenance preferred. • Demonstrated leadership, team development, mentoring, and problem-solving capabilities. • Proficiency with CMMS systems such as Pronto and Microsoft Office. • Knowledge and practical application of MSHA regulations preferred. • Current driver's license. • Ability to successfully complete required background checks and post-offer physical requirements.
