The successful candidate will bring proven experience in justice, civic, public safety, institutional, or government facilities and will help strengthen Stantec's Justice and Civic practice across the Prairies and Territories.

As a Senior Architect, you will guide complex projects through planning, design, documentation, procurement, construction administration, and close-out. You will work directly with clients, project managers, integrated design teams, and subject matter experts to translate operational needs, security considerations, stakeholder priorities, and community objectives into practical, well-coordinated architectural solutions.

This role requires a balance of design leadership, technical judgment, delivery discipline, and client service. You will help create facilities that are secure, welcoming, durable, sustainable, and responsive to daily operations while supporting a collaborative team culture. You will also contribute to pursuits, client development, interviews, mentoring, and the continued growth of Stantec's Justice and Civic practice.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Guide justice and civic projects from early planning through design, construction administration, and close-out.
  • Translate client, operational, security, stakeholder, and public-sector priorities into coordinated architectural solutions.
  • Work with project and practice leadership to align scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and design intent.
  • Coordinate integrated design teams and apply Stantec's quality, BIM, document control, and delivery processes.
  • Support client and stakeholder meetings, workshops, presentations, pursuits, interviews, and public-sector approvals.
  • Coach team members and contribute to portfolio development, thought leadership, and market-facing materials.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, presentation, team leadership, mentoring, and client relationship skills.
  • Experience applying QA/QC, BIM, project governance, and interdisciplinary coordination practices.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and other common architectural tools.

Education and Experience
  • Professional degree in Architecture, such as a Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture, is required.
  • Registration as an Architect in Alberta is required, or the ability to obtain registration through interprovincial reciprocity. PMP, LEED accreditation, or comparable credentials are considered assets.
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive architectural experience, including leadership / Architect of Record on multidisciplinary projects in an architecture, engineering, or professional services environment.
