Job Description

Senior Product Security Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Product Security Engineer to join our Product Security team, based hybrid out of our Tacoma, WA office and reporting to the Senior Manager of Product Security Engineering. This is a developer-first role: we need someone who builds software and is passionate about applying that craft to security engineering. You will design, build, and maintain the tooling and automation that streamline our security oversight and operations-deploying and optimizing platforms like Wiz and Fastly WAF across our CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes clusters, and increasingly harnessing AI to move faster while still understanding what's happening under the hood.

You are the ideal candidate if you're a developer at heart who enjoys identifying problems and building solutions for them, and you have the ability to communicate and collaborate well with internal teams.

Be a Contributor - What You'll Do
  • Design, build, and maintain internal tooling and automation that streamline security oversight across the software development lifecycle
  • Deploy, configure, and optimize security platforms such as Wiz and Fastly WAF across our CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes clusters
  • Build AI-assisted tooling and workflows that scale our security engineering capabilities, while understanding how the underlying models and systems actually work
  • Partner with software engineering teams to embed security controls and guardrails directly into developer workflows and pipelines
  • Conduct code review, threat modeling, and security assessments of our products with a developer's eye toward practical, scalable remediation
  • Evaluate, integrate, and maintain security tooling-SIEM, WAF, CSPM, and similar-as code wherever possible
  • Stay current on emerging security threats, tooling, and AI-driven approaches to security engineering, and bring new capabilities into our stack

Be Prepared - What You Bring
  • 6+ years of combined experience in software development and security engineering, with software development as your primary craft
  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python or Go, with a track record of shipping production-grade code
  • Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes-based deployments in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Practical experience integrating and operating security tooling in cloud-native environments (e.g., Wiz, Fastly WAF, SIEM, CSPM, or similar)
  • Experience using AI and LLM-based tools to accelerate development and automation, with an ability to explain how the underlying systems behave
  • Solid understanding of application and cloud security fundamentals, common vulnerability classes, and secure-by-design principles
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering and security teams and communicate complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and respond effectively under pressure
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field; equivalent work experience will be considered
  • Security certifications such as Security+, C|EH, or cloud security credentials are a plus

Be Successful - Your Path

First 90 Days: Immerse in our culture, connect with mentors (Blox Buddies), and map the systems and meet with key stakeholders that rely on your work. Discuss and create short/long term goals.

Six Months:
  • Take ownership of core components of our security tooling and automation stack, including Wiz and Fastly WAF integrations across CI/CD and Kubernetes
  • Build strong partnerships with key product, platform, and SRE teams and understand how our tooling plugs into the SDLC
  • Ship at least one meaningful automation or internal tool that reduces manual security overhead
  • Introduce AI-assisted approaches to speed up a recurring product security task, with appropriate safeguards and monitoring

One Year:
  • Become the go-to developer and SME for our security tooling and CI/CD and Kubernetes security integrations
  • Independently design and build new tooling and automation to address emerging security and product needs

Belong - Your Community

Our culture thrives on inclusion, rewarding the bold ideas, curiosity, and creativity that move us forward. In a community where every voice counts, continuous learning is the norm. So, whether you code, create, sell, or care for customers, you'll grow and belong here.

Be Rewarded - Benefits That Help You Grow, Thrive, Belong
  • Comprehensive health coverage, generous PTO, and flexible work options
  • Learning opportunities, career-mobility programs, and leadership workshops
  • Sixteen paid volunteer hours each year, global employee resource groups, and a "No Jerks" policy that keeps collaboration healthy
  • Modern offices with EV charging, healthy snacks (and the occasional cupcake), plus hackathons, game nights, and culture celebrations
  • Charitable Giving Program supported by Company Match
  • We practice pay transparency and reward performance. Offers reflect role location, internal equity, experience, skills, education, and certifications. Base salary for this position: USD $135,400 - $201,850 plus bonus
