Full Job Description
Our client is a fintech company in the on-demand pay space. Its service lets employees access wages they have already earned before payday, rather than waiting for the standard pay cycle to end. The platform connects to existing payroll and timekeeping systems, so employers don't need to change their processes. Employees access funds through a mobile app, and the money can be sent to a bank account or a company-issued card. The service is free for employers, and the company's goal is to reduce employees' financial stress and help businesses retain their workforce.

We're looking for a hands-on Senior Product Manager with deep payments and money-movement experience who can start contributing immediately and help our client to turn complex financial flows into products and platform capabilities that Engineering can build, operate, and scale.

The initial focus will include ACH and bank rails, payouts/disbursements, repayments, cards, payment orchestration, settlement/reconciliation, and risk and fraud. The role is intentionally broad because the Platform team works across multiple connected money-movement capabilities.

Engagement Details:

  • Initial term: 90 days, with the option to extend based on performance and business needs.
  • Reporting to: Senior Director of Product, Platform.
  • Location: Remote, East, Central or Pacific time zones.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in product management, with substantial hands-on experience in payments, money movement, financial infrastructure, fintech, or risk.
  • Direct ownership of payment or money-movement products, with a track record of personally shipping products involving payment rails, bank transfers, cards, payouts, repayments, orchestration, settlement/reconciliation, or transaction risk.
  • Deep expertise in at least one payments or money-movement domain, including the underlying transaction flow and system behavior, not just the customer-facing experience.
  • Hands-on experience with payment rails, processors, banks, or PSPs, such as ACH, RTP, card networks, or bank payment infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to translate ambiguous problems into engineering-ready requirements and work closely with engineers through implementation.
  • Strong technical fluency: comfortable discussing transaction lifecycles, state machines, APIs, events/webhooks, retries, idempotency, processor integrations, reconciliation, settlement, and failure handling.
  • Experience using payment, risk, financial, or operational metrics to make product decisions.
  • Ability to operate with high autonomy and incomplete information, contribute from week one, and communicate clearly in writing and in person across Engineering, Risk, Legal/Compliance, Finance, Data, and Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Own product definition for money-movement capabilities, from problem definition through requirements, technical design, launch, and iteration.
  • Pressure-test existing requirements and designs across payments, repayments, cards, orchestration, payouts, settlement/reconciliation, and risk and fraud, identifying gaps, edge cases, conflicting assumptions, and unresolved decisions.
  • Partner directly with Engineering to translate complex business and financial requirements into clear PRDs, workflows, state transitions, API requirements, and acceptance and launch criteria.
  • Work at the transaction level when necessary (payment states, processor responses, retries, returns, failures, and reconciliation issues) and help define how money moves through the platform across funding, authorization, processing, settlement, payout, recovery, and exception flows.
  • Partner with Risk, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Data, Operations, and Engineering to ensure product decisions account for financial correctness, risk, regulatory requirements, operational impact, and customer experience.
  • Use data and operational signals to identify problems and measure outcomes, including payment success/failure, loss, recovery, payout performance, reconciliation breaks, cost, and operational volume.
  • Drive active initiatives, including risk, payouts, and related money-movement workstreams, surfacing risks and unresolved decisions early and making clear recommendations.
  • Own day-to-day product execution (backlog refinement, requirements reviews, prioritization, stakeholder alignment, launch readiness, and post-launch iteration) and flex across Platform workstreams as priorities evolve, without a long ramp-up.

This Role Is a Great Fit If You:

  • Can quickly spot what is missing in a payment flow.
  • Can sit with an engineer and discuss the implications of a transaction state, timeout, retry, processor failure, or reconciliation break.
  • Stay close through implementation and launch, rather than stopping at the PRD.
  • Are comfortable pulling data, investigating failed transactions, and figuring out what is actually happening.
  • Can distinguish a product problem from a technical, operational, or risk problem.
  • Can make decisions when requirements aren't fully defined.
  • Enjoy complex financial infrastructure rather than feeling intimidated by it.
  • Understand that in payments, "mostly works" isn't good enough.

What This Role Is Not:

  • A strategy-only product management role.
  • A project manager role.
  • A business analyst or requirements-only role.
  • A consumer checkout PM role with limited exposure to the underlying money movement.
  • A role where you spend the first 60-90 days learning the payments domain.

We offer

  • US and EU projects based on advanced technologies.
  • Competitive compensation based on skills and experience.
  • Flexibility in workspace, either remote or our welcoming office.
  • Bonuses for article writing, public talks, and other activities.
  • Free tech webinars and meetups organized by Svitla.
  • Regular corporate online activities.
  • Awesome team, friendly and supportive community!
