A Little About the RoleThe Senior Product Manager, Merchant Activation owns the merchant activation journey - the critical path that determines how quickly and reliably a signed merchant becomes an active, processing merchant.
This role is focused on a core product challenge: making it faster, simpler, and more reliable for merchants to get live on Procare Payments. You will enhance and extend an existing merchant boarding platform used across multiple Procare products and channels, working closely with Engineering, Sales, and Underwriting to deliver a modern activation experience.
Reporting to the Director of Payments Product, you'll be the primary point of contact for Sales and Underwriting, own the product interface for pricing tooling, and ensure a clean handoff to the Procare Online Financial Management team once a merchant is successfully boarded.
What you'll do:- Own the merchant payment application - the formal application, agreement, and signature capture experience that initiates every new merchant relationship, used across Procare's CMS products and sales tooling
- Own the merchant boarding platform - from discovery through delivery, including ongoing enhancements and extensions to the systems that take a completed application through processor boarding
- Own merchant maintenance systems - supporting post-boarding account updates such as address changes, pricing updates, and additional locations
- Own and evolve pricing tooling - ensuring pricing is accurately configured, reflected in boarding systems, and accessible to the teams that need it
- Partner with Engineering to define and ship application, boarding, document collection, workflow, and integration capabilities - and own the clean handoff to the implementation team once merchants are successfully boarded
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Sales and Underwriting - aligning product direction with sales motion, underwriting workflows, and compliance requirements
- Communicate clearly across teams and leadership - translating product decisions, tradeoffs, and roadmap priorities into updates that are accessible to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Track and report on key activation metrics - monitoring boarding completion rates, time-to-board, and activation contribution rate to surface friction, inform roadmap priorities, and demonstrate progress against business outcomes
- Maintain a living backlog, write clear requirements, and lead pre- and post-release validation
Our ideal candidate will have:- 5+ years' of product management experience; payments, fintech, or financial services preferred
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred
- Experience with platform or API-first products - designing for multiple consumers or integration partners
- Experience with merchant onboarding, application flows, or KYC/AML-adjacent products
- Strong cross-functional skills - Engineering, Sales, Underwriting, and Operations will be your daily partners
- Strong written and verbal communication skills - comfortable presenting to cross-functional stakeholders and translating complex decisions for non-technical audiences
- Disciplined requirements ownership with strong backlog management habits
- Comfort using AI tools in discovery, requirements writing, and product development workflows
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures, webhooks, or API integrations
