Full Job Description
The Senior Product Manager leads and and oversees numerous products within SAE’s industry-centered professional development portfolio of training courses, curricula, and services. As product owner, they will monitor and manage product financial success by collaborating with sales and marketing teams to articulate product messaging, positioning, promotion, and sales.



The successful candidate possesses a strong understanding of product management practices, tools, and methods, including market research, business case development, financial modeling, and lifecycle management. Knowledge of the mobility industry and workforce development is essential for this role. The Senior Product Manager will have a passion for representing the voice of customers, learners and professionals served with SAE’s robust portfolio of learning solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Working with industry representatives, market research, stakeholders, and/or instructional designers, identify industry skills gaps, certification needs, and related problems to workforce development. Align and propose solutions, develop business cases and financial analyses, and participate in cross-functional road map prioritization activities. Convene and lead advisory panels, locating and engaging stakeholders and/or subject matter experts to survey, interview, develop, and deliver content via available delivery modalities. Ensure the vision of the product is executed in product delivery and within appropriate time frames. In concert with the product group Director, drive the strategic direction of the product portfolio and be chiefly responsible for implementation of the strategy to drive revenue, margin, and growth goals. 

  • Guides successful tradeoffs that affect cost, schedule, users, and how well the product works throughout the product life cycle.  

  • Provides product leadership from introduction through obsolescence, evaluates new technologies, articulates issues, and makes clear recommendations.  

  • Makes product positioning and messaging recommendations and ensures they are communicated to sales and marketing counterparts. 

  • Drives and participates in efficacy research to identify obstacles, improve ease-of-use and customer satisfaction. Articulates research findings to management in order to impact future product direction.  

  • Creates and delivers formal presentations and conducts group discussions on products for a broad range of audiences. 

  • Continually reviews product usage data and maintains an ongoing dialog with customers and internal stakeholders, particularly sales, on trends, risks and opportunities. 

  • Contributing to the achievement of SAE's organizational goals 

  • As needed, act as a mentor to product managers and, in particular, enhance their familiarity with product management best practices and elevate their focus from the tactical to a more strategic framework. 

  • Additional projects as assigned 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS  

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, media, STEM or related field 

  •  6+ years of experience in product management and development or related role 

  • P&L responsibility  

  • Demonstrated experience with new product development processes and life cycle maintenance 

  • Understanding of talent and/or workforce development landscape and/or curriculum development  

  • Expertise using quantitative and qualitative data to lead product management activities 

  • Experience collecting voice of customer inputs and developing relationships with industry stakeholders 

  • Certification in Product Management required within 6 months, if absent 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Master’s degree 

  • Experience in Aerospace, Ground Vehicles, the mobility industry, standards, or professional certification business a plus 

  • Certification in Product Management 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • The Senior Product Manager position is US-based and offers fully remote work from a professional home office. Occasional travel to any of the SAE PRI Group office worldwide will be required to support collaboration and business needs. The role involves frequent interaction with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners through virtual platforms, with in-person meetings as needed. 

  • Up to 20% domestic and/or international travel is required to attend industry events, trade shows, conferences, and to engage directly with customers and users. Travel will include overnight stays and occasional weekend commitments to support business objectives. 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer or participating in meetings. 

  • Regularly required to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. 

  • Occasionally required to move or transport materials weighing up to 25 pounds. 

  • May need to set up and dismantle displays or materials at events, requiring light physical activity. 

  • Standard business hours are expected, with flexibility to accommodate meetings or project deadlines that may occur outside typical hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as necessary.
