Overview of Role

Reporting to the Product Line Director, you will be a member of one our Product Line teams within Product Development. You will own and oversee existing product lines and the transfer of new product lines into mass production which includes product lifecycle management, new product introduction, and complex problem report management. You will work closely with internal partners and customers to ensure proactive communication around product issues and potential problem resolution approaches, enabling us to enhance our relationship with Brand Partners through timely completion of problem reports. You will also manage product improvement projects that provide meaningful improvements to the product line, and you will guide and mentor more junior Product Engineers.

Core Responsibilities
  • Reflect and role model BOA's vision, values and Leadership Model and demonstrate passion for our mission across the Product Development team and rest of the organization
  • Complete complex root cause analysis and implement corrective actions, working with the Product Line Director on strategic decisions for higher complexity problem reports
  • Use project management skills and communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders to ensure problem report management is successful
  • Manage product improvement projects to improve quality of existing product lines
  • Support product lifecycle management via product improvement and product obsolescence
  • Guide and mentor more junior Product Engineers in product specification management and duplicate mold execution
  • Support new product introductions by approving mass production launches
  • Update relevant systems such as Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) AND Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM) systems with product improvement changes, and mentor more junior Product Engineers on how to use these systems
  • Seeks out guidance and mentorship from Product Line Directors and subject matter experts outside of product development


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
  • 7+ years of design or sustaining related work in engineering
  • 5+ years of experience working with molded parts
  • 5+ years of experience developing products for mass production, including DFM, PFMEA & DFMEA, statistical data analysis, quality control principles, drawing creation, tolerance analysis, and gauge R&R studies
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar) and Mini-tab (or similar)
  • Proficiency with consumer product design and Asian Manufacturing
  • Experience with 6 Sigma methodology
  • Ability to travel internationally to Asia, up to 10%
  • An organized project management approach that allows you to maintain our fast pace and manage multiple deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse groups of people across the globe


Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Plastic Injection mold design
  • Proficiency with rapid prototyping/fail fast methodology
  • Proficiency working with overseas contract manufacturers
  • Experience with MoldFlow and or Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Basic shop skills with equipment such as Lathes and Mills


Overview of Compensation and Benefits
  • Budgeted salary range: $95,000 - $115,000
    • We will determine salary based on skills and experience in relation to the function of the role, as well as equity to any other employees with similar experience in the same or similar role
    • This role is also eligible for a 10% annual bonus
