Senior Product Designer, Private Brands (Hardgoods) Your Opportunity As a Senior Product Designer on the Private Brands team, you will create original hardgoods products, collections, and customer experiences that bring our brands to life and strengthen customer preference. You will translate customer insights, market opportunities, trend influences, and business priorities into innovative design solutions that support category growth and brand differentiation. Working across a diverse portfolio of products, you will influence future product innovation, identify unmet customer needs, and create cohesive assortments that deliver meaningful value to pet parents. Through collaboration, creativity, and customer-centered design thinking, you will help shape products and experiences customers cannot find anywhere else. What You'll Do Product Design • Identify opportunities for new products, product extensions, assortment expansion, and innovation that support category growth and evolving customer needs. • Lead the creation of original product concepts, collections, and assortment solutions that strengthen brand differentiation. • Develop concepts through sketching, rendering, visual storytelling, material exploration, and iterative design processes to communicate ideas and guide product development. • Translate customer insights, trend direction, competitive analysis, performance data, and strategic priorities into differentiated product solutions. • Apply structured problem solving and customer-centered research to uncover unmet needs, product gaps, and future product opportunities. • Partner closely with Technical Design to ensure products balance aesthetics, functionality, quality, manufacturability, and customer experience. Brand Expression • Translate brand principles into meaningful product experiences, visual identities, and design solutions that strengthen customer trust and emotional connection. • Create cohesive product ecosystems, collections, and assortments that reinforce brand positioning and deliver a consistent customer experience across categories. • Partner with Brand Strategy to evolve how brands come to life through product design and innovation. • Ensure product collections and seasonal stories contribute to a recognizable and differentiated brand experience across customer touchpoints. Innovation & Collaboration • Develop compelling product concepts and visual storytelling that influence stakeholders and build alignment around future opportunities. • Identify emerging customer needs, market trends, competitive gaps, and innovation opportunities that help shape future category direction. • Build strong customer and business cases that support new product concepts, assortment expansion, and innovation investments. • Influence category growth by introducing differentiated design solutions that strengthen customer preference and business performance. Cross-Functional Partnership & Influence • Serve as a design subject matter expert across product categories, innovation initiatives, and assortment development efforts. • Influence product, assortment, and innovation decisions through customer-centered design thinking, visual storytelling, and creative problem solving. • Collaborate closely with Technical Design, Brand Strategy, Category Management, Sourcing, Marketing, and enterprise partners to support successful product execution. • Present design recommendations, innovation concepts, and assortment opportunities to stakeholders and leadership teams. • Support team growth through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of design practices. Vendor & Creative Partnership • Build strong relationships with vendor partners to elevate creative execution and accelerate product innovation across categories. • Provide clear creative direction, concept development, and design guidance to ensure products align with brand expectations and customer needs. • Leverage vendor expertise, materials knowledge, manufacturing capabilities, and emerging innovations to strengthen product concepts and identify new opportunities. Design Excellence & Creative Leadership • Help establish and uphold design standards, creative principles, and visual consistency across product categories and assortments. • Maintain a strong understanding of consumer trends, materials, competitive products, and emerging design influences. • Champion creative problem solving and continuous improvement to evolve ways of working while creating space for innovation and creativity. • Use customer insights, business understanding, and design expertise to drive measurable category, customer, and brand outcomes. What You'll Need • 8+ years of experience in Product Design, Industrial Design, Consumer Product Design, or a related field. • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, or equivalent professional experience. • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, XD, or similar design software. • Experience developing original product concepts from ideation through execution within consumer products, retail, private brands, or related industries. • Strong visual communication skills, including sketching, rendering, concept development, and visual storytelling. • Demonstrated ability to translate customer insights, trends, and business objectives into differentiated product solutions. • Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders and presenting recommendations to drive alignment and decision-making. • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills with a customer-centered mindset. Bonus • Experience designing hardgoods products for retail, private brands, pet, home, lifestyle, or consumer goods categories. • Experience developing product collections, assortments, seasonal programs, or branded product ecosystems. • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, sourcing considerations, and vendor collaboration. • Experience leveraging customer research, market insights, and performance data to inform design decisions. • Experience mentoring designers and contributing to the evolution of design practices and creative processes. What You'll Get Our salary range for this position is competitive and based on experience and qualifications. In addition to a competitive compensation package, Team Members may be eligible for a variety of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, a 401(k) with company matching, paid parental leave, employee assistance programs, paid time off, and Team Member discounts. The base salary range for this role is $137,500 - $221,500.00. • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.
