Full Job Description
THE ROLE

E Ink is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead the design, development, and global deployment of automated production processes to support high-volume manufacturing. This role sits at the intersection of process engineering, software automation, and data-driven workflows, translating advanced R&D concepts into robust, scalable systems used across multiple products and manufacturing sites.

In this role, you will own end-to-end automation solutions that span software, hardware, and infrastructure. You will define technical architectures, process specifications, and reliability measurement workflows; collaborate closely with engineering and software teams; and drive the transition of complex experimental workflows into reliable production processes. Success in this role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, experience working in large and complex automation codebases, a data-driven and statistical mindset, and the ability to influence and execute across globally distributed teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Architect, implement, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for production processes deployed across multiple products and global manufacturing sites

  • Own the technical lifecycle of automated processes, from early development integration through global production deployment and long-term support

  • Collaborate with software, data science, and process engineers to integrate Deep Learning pipelines into production workflows, utilizing both cloud-based and on-premise compute resources

  • Develop process specifications and performance criteria that translate product reliability targets into scalable production controls

  • Design reliability measurement workflows, including data collection, analysis, and reporting methods that enable rapid identification of process drift and failure modes

  • Drive process improvement initiatives using statistical analysis and experimental data to achieve targeted reliability, yield, and manufacturability outcomes

  • Co-develop automation tools and fleet management software for production equipment, test systems, and compute infrastructure in partnership with the Software Development team

  • Coordinate with global stakeholders to define requirements, align priorities, and own delivery schedules for production initiatives

  • Lead cross-site deployment, troubleshooting, training, and continuous improvement of hardware and software systems

  • Contribute to the definition and development of internal tools and processes that support research, experimentation, and rapid iteration

  • Serve as a technical leader and mentor, helping establish best practices for software quality, reliability, and maintainability in production environments

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the position. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, education, experience, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience developing software-driven automation systems

  • Demonstrated experience designing, maintaining, and extending large, complex software automation codebases used by engineers or operators

  • Solid understanding of software architecture, version control, testing, and deployment best practices

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and geographies

  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable operating in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience owning or supporting mass production processes or production automation systems

  • Experience working with global teams across manufacturing, R&D, software, and operations

  • Familiarity with Deep Learning workflows, data pipelines, or ML infrastructure in production environments

  • Strong background in statistical analysis, reliability metrics, and data-driven process improvement for production environments

  • Experience deploying and supporting systems across mixed cloud and on-premise environments

  • Experience with electronics hardware (oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, cameras, Arduinos, DAQs, or other electronics)
