Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking a qualified
Senior Process Engineer to join our Energy team based in
Edmonton, AB. The
Senior Process Engineer will support sustaining capital projects by applying process engineering principles and industry best practices to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions. Working closely with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams, you will provide process design expertise, contribute to project deliverables, and support all phases of project execution. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical capabilities, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers, clients, vendors, and other project stakeholders. This role may include serving as the Lead Process Engineer on projects or providing technical leadership, guidance, and recommendations to project teams and fellow engineers.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Develops project facilities design from concept through detailed engineering stage
- Provides comprehensive complex engineering and design services by establishing the design criteria and implementing the preparation of specifications, design computations and deliverables in accordance with project requirements
- Process design of equipment which may include pumps, compressors, PSVs, flare systems, storage tanks, vessels, control valves, distillation columns, heat exchangers, furnaces
- Periodic checking existing conditions of equipment by field visits into the client facility
- Contributes to the Process engineering design by initiating drawings and calculations, and other documents relating to the discipline
- Provide design follow-up during detailed engineering, construction & commissioning stages as-needed
- Attends project Risk and HAZOP reviews as needed
- Working knowledge of provincial or federal NOx abatement and/or fugitive emission regulations and equipment is considered an asset
- Working knowledge of fired heater gas code requirements (i.e. Canadian CSA standard B-149.3 or equivalent) is considered an asset
Qualifications- A recognized degree in Chemical or Mechanical engineering discipline, from an accredited college or university, or a professional license in Engineering from the appropriate recognized licensing board, or specialized courses in relevant engineering.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA.
- 10 to 15 years of broad progressive work experience in design engineering or other relevant types of engineering such as systems startup, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants, or engineering / construction firms.
- Must have engineering experience in an industrial process plant setting such as petrochemical, oil refining, chemical production, power generation.
- Must possess excellent communication skills to interact with internal customers and external clients.
