SALARY: The salary range for this position is $66,568.61 to $112,619.28 for Schedule A, and $66,568.61 to $105,073.79 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.Judiciary employees hired prior to October 31, 2015, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after October 31, 2015, are considered Schedule B.

The Essex Vicinage is seeking a highly motivated individual who possess strong technical competence and excellent interpersonal skills to serve as Senior Probation Officer in the Essex Vicinage Recovery Court. The selected individual will be responsible for the supervision of a high-risk/specialized case load to ensure successful outcomes and reporting. This position will require the individual to be a subject-matter expert in the supervision of Domestic Violence Supervision caseload and Sex Offender Supervision caseload, which includes knowledge of additional risk factors, screening tools, and additional treatment needs. The Senior Probation Officer will monitor and enforce conditions of court orders; evaluate clients with complex or chronic problems; discuss specialized treatment needs; identify barriers to success and develop strategies for resolution; inform and refer clients to available services and coordinate same; monitor case flow and treatment plans and collaborate with system partners on the creation of policies and procedures; consult with judges regarding case status and concerns with any specific case; analyze case histories and maintain data so that statistics may be generated as needed.

REMOTE WORK:

The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.
Example of Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Serve as liaison and establish/maintain working relationships with judges, attorneys, treatment providers, externalagencies, and court staff.
• Manage low to high risks, complex caseloads, including Recovery Court participants and specialized populations(domestic violence, sex offenders, mental health cases), and prioritize workload in accordance with laws,regulations, and professional standards.
• Assess clients' risks, needs, and responsivity factors; determine appropriate treatment plans and supervisionstrategies.
• Administer and interpret risk/needs assessments, including the Ohio Risk Assessment System (ORAS) and Static99 (as applicable)
• Utilize the Enhanced Outcome Based Supervision (EOBS) model, including Structured Response Grid (SRG), insupervision practices.
• Review, explain, and enforce conditions of probation and Recovery Court program requirements.
• Conduct home visits, fieldwork, and inspections in accordance with supervision guidelines, including visits toresidences, treatment facilities, schools, workplaces, and detention centers.
• Monitor compliance with treatment, facilitate referrals, and coordinate services; follow up with providers andaddress barriers to successful completion.
• Identify criminogenic needs and develop case plans to support behavioral change and reduce recidivism.
• Administer, conduct, and monitor drug and alcohol testing.
• Prepare reports, maintain case records, and analyze case data for statistical purposes.
• Submit violations of probation; provide recommendations to the court and testify in court proceedings as needed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support Recovery Court participants and specialized caseloads.
• Serve on local and statewide committees, task forces, or initiatives.
• Participate in the development of operational programs, procedures, practices and standards.
• Provide structured training
• Attend staff meetings and contribute to team-based decision making.

Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.

Eligibility for Advancement: Eligibility is based upon the applicants having achieved all the competencies for advancement to Senior Probation Officer as listed on the Career Progression Eligibility Form for this title. Applicants for advancement to the Senior Probation Officer title are not required to take a New Jersey Civil Service Commission promotional examination.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any area, which includes or is supplemented by 24 credit hours in the behavioral or social sciences and two years of professional experience in interviewing clients and/or casework involving gathering and analyzing socioeconomic information; determining client treatment needs; providing access to social services, therapeutic interventions, rehabilitative assistance, or professional counseling; and/or preparing reports and/or orders including findings and recommendations

Substitution: A master's degree from an accredited college or university in the behavioral or social sciences may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
