The person in this role will work from the Medtronic facility located in Tempe, Arizona.
This role will require limited (> 10%) of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.
Our team collaborates on the development, deployment, and sustainment of manufacturing test systems used across Medtronic's global production sites. We work closely with R&D and manufacturing to deliver robust and efficient test solutions that support new product introductions and ensure high quality device manufacturing.
This Senior Principal Test Engineer role focuses on developing and deploying new test systems in partnership with the MTC TDC development team and manufacturing sites, ensuring smooth validation, transfer, and ramp up into production.
CAREERS THAT CHANGE LIVES- Provide technical leadership as the subject matter expert for manufacturing test systems across programs and global manufacturing sites.
- Define test system architecture, standards, and strategies aligned with manufacturing and technology roadmaps.
- Lead the test system validation and deployment of manufacturing test solutions, integrating hardware, software, instrumentation, and automation.
- Collaborate with R&D, Test Development, and Automation Engineering to ensure product testability and scalable manufacturing solutions.
- Oversee verification, validation, and compliance activities, including test system qualification, MSA, and audit-ready documentation.
- Drive deployment and technology transfer of test systems to global manufacturing sites, including ramp-up and hyper care support.
MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)
- 10+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree or 8+ years of experience with an advanced degree
NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)
- Recognized expert in the discipline with strong autonomy and ability to drive initiatives independently.
- Solid knowledge of automation technologies applied to manufacturing test systems.
- Strong project management skills with proven execution against milestones and commitments.
- Ability to influence product, process, and operational design aligned with business strategy.
- Strong problem-solving capability to address complex, cross-functional technical challenges and improve systems and processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including interaction with senior leadership and external partners.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive alignment across teams.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing other engineers.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. a7 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$156,000.00 - $234,000.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
