Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a visionary Senior Principal Platform Engineer to be located in either Titusville, NJ or Horsham, PA. This position may require up to 10% travel within the New Jersey/Pennsylvania area and occasionally across North America.

This person will serve as the engineering leader for the AI Next Frontier (AINF) Workbench initiative. This role will be responsible for defining and executing the technical strategy, architecture, engineering standards, and platform capabilities that power the future of AI-driven marketing, content, insights, and commercialization experiences across Innovative Medicine.

The AINF Workbench represents a strategic enterprise platform that unifies AI-powered capabilities including content generation, market research, insights-to-impact, content review, agentic workflows, and future autonomous marketing operations into a single, connected ecosystem. The successful candidate will lead the design and implementation of the Workbench platform and AI Core capabilities that enable reusable services, agent orchestration, governed AI execution, and scalable expansion across brands and therapeutic areas.

J&J Flex

Our enterprise way of working for office-based employees provides for individuals to work up to 2 days virtual and at least 3 days at their primary work location per week.

Do you thrive working with ambiguity and being able to shape industry-leading design patterns and world-class experiences? Are you ready to own the services that power all of our content & marketing experiences and help craft the next-gen vision for building even more hyper-personalized experiences for our customers? If yes, then this role may be for you!

Role

The role will own the evolution of the Workbench from initial release through enterprise scale, ensuring that each new capability strengthens the platform through reusable services, common frameworks, and governed engineering patterns. A critical objective of this role is creating a durable platform where investments compound over time through shared services, standardized interfaces, reusable agents, and connected AI workflows.

This individual will serve as the technical counterpart to product and business leadership, translating the AINF vision into a scalable engineering ecosystem capable of supporting future-state workflows that connect market research, insights generation, content creation, content review, optimization, and autonomous execution without fragmented handoffs or isolated solutions.

Strategic Core Responsibilities
  • Define and evolve the technical architecture for the AINF Workbench platform.
  • Establish the engineering strategy for shared service integration, full stack requirements to support adoption at scale including establishing gateway services, and runtime capabilities.
  • Build the foundational frameworks, SDKs, APIs, and developer platforms supporting Workbench adoption across all AINF pods and future use cases.
  • Lead development of reusable agent frameworks, skills definition, and agent integration strategies
  • Establish enterprise standards for MCP, A2A, and A2UI interoperability across all AI capabilities.
  • Create a shared catalog of AI services, tools, agents, and business capabilities that can be reused across the Workbench ecosystem.
  • Partner closely with AI Core teams to implement governed agent execution, observability, security controls, discoverability, and platform operations.
  • Ensure Workbench capabilities consume and contribute to the broader J&J enterprise technology ecosystem through interoperable APIs, shared services, and standardized platform contracts.
  • Define engineering quality metrics that measure platform reuse, service adoption, reliability, release velocity, developer productivity, and AI solution effectiveness.
  • Build an engineering organization capable of supporting the long-term AINF roadmap, including future releases supporting AI channels, AI production, autonomous execution capabilities, and expanded enterprise adoption.
