JOB DESCRIPTION

Iron EagleX is seeking a Senior Principal Intelligence Analyst to support our analytics teams in Crystal City, VA. In this role, you will conduct advanced all-source analysis while working closely with multi-discipline analysts, data scientists, data engineers, and developers to improve the speed, depth, and quality of analytic production. You will apply expert analytic tradecraft to interpret complex information from multiple sources, identify patterns and gaps, develop defensible assessments, and help shape data-driven approaches to mission problems. You will help translate analytic questions into data requirements, evaluate the usefulness of data outputs, provide subject matter context for models and tools, and ensure that technical capabilities remain aligned to impactful analytics.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Senior Principal Intelligence Analyst, you will help transform complex, multi-source information into clear, timely, and actionable assessments that support decision-making. Your work will directly influence how data, analytics, and AI-enabled tools are applied to real-world intelligence problems. By working closely with data scientists, engineers, developers, and analysts, you will help ensure that emerging technical capabilities are grounded in analytic tradecraft, operational relevance, and mission needs.

JOB DUTIES (INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO)

  • Conduct expert-level all-source analysis using structured analytic techniques, intelligence tradecraft, and multiple information sources to produce defensible assessments, insights, and recommendations.

  • Analyze complex datasets, reporting streams, operational information, and mission-relevant source material to identify patterns, trends, anomalies, relationships, risks, and intelligence gaps.

  • Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, developers, and analysts to translate mission questions into data requirements, analytic workflows, technical use cases, and measurable outcomes.

  • Provide subject matter expertise to support the design, evaluation, and refinement of data models, analytic tools, AI-enabled workflows, and decision-support capabilities.

  • Review and assess outputs from data science models, AI tools, search systems, automated extraction processes, and analytic platforms for relevance, accuracy, explainability, and mission value.

  • Support the development of analytic methodologies that combine traditional all-source tradecraft with data-driven techniques, automated discovery, knowledge management, and AI-assisted analysis.

  • Identify data gaps, quality issues, source limitations, collection shortfalls, and analytic constraints that affect the reliability of assessments or technical outputs.

  • Produce written assessments, briefings, analytic notes, and decision-support products tailored to mission, operational, and technical stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with full stack developers and data engineers to ensure analytic workflows, tool interfaces, and data access patterns support realistic analyst needs without assuming responsibility for software development or front-end implementation.

  • Apply rigorous sourcing, confidence levels, assumptions, alternative analysis, and evidence evaluation to ensure analytic products are transparent, credible, and defensible.

  • Support the integration of AI-enabled tools into analytic workflows by testing outputs, identifyingfailure modes, refining promptsor analytic use cases, and documenting appropriate usecases and limitations.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Expert-level experience conducting all-source analysis in support of intelligence, defense, national security, law enforcement, or mission-focused operational environments.

  • Strong understanding of all-source analytic tradecraft, including source evaluation, structured analytic techniques, confidence statements, assumption testing, alternative analysis, and intelligence writing standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information from multiple sources into clear, concise, and defensible analytic judgments.

  • Experience working with large, complex, or multi-source datasets in support of analytic production, operational assessments, targeting, threat analysis, network analysis, or mission planning.

  • Ability to translate mission questions and analytic problems into data requirements, technical use cases, workflow needs, and evaluation criteria for technical teams.

  • Experience collaborating with data scientists, data engineers, software developers, or technical product teams in a mission or intelligence environment.

  • Working knowledge of data-driven analytic methods, including pattern analysis, anomaly detection, entity resolution, link analysis, geospatial analysis, trend analysis, or network analysis.

  • Ability to evaluate technical outputs for analytic relevance, accuracy, completeness, bias, uncertainty, and mission utility.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing analytic assessments, briefings, executive summaries, and decision-support products for senior stakeholders.

  • Ability to identify data gaps, source limitations, collection shortfalls, quality issues, and analytic risks that may affect assessments or tool outputs.

  • Experience working with analytic platforms, intelligence databases, knowledge management systems, search tools, or data visualization environments.

  • Strong attention to sourcing, evidentiary standards, documentation, and analytic defensibility.

  • Ability to operate effectively in cross-functional teams while maintaining ownership of analytic judgment, mission context, and tradecraft quality.

  • Comfort working in fast-paced environments where analytic priorities, data availability, and mission requirements may evolve quickly.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Experience supporting the development, testing, or operational adoption of AI-enabled analytic capabilities.

  • Experience working with data scientists to evaluate model performance, develop test cases, validate outputs, or provide subject matter context for training and evaluation datasets.

  • Familiarity with prompt development, retrieval-augmented generation concepts, semantic search, entity extraction, text analytics, or automated summarization workflows.

  • Experience with geospatial, temporal, network, or behavioral analysis methods.

  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, notebooks, or other data analysis tools.

  • Experience helping define analytic requirements for data pipelines, structured data products, APIs, search indexes, dashboards, or mission applications.

  • Experience mentoring analysts or leading analytic workstreams in a multi-disciplinary environment.
