Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Senior Principal Digital Engineer (Systems Engineer) to join the team of qualified individuals on our Research and Advanced Design organization. This role is located onsite in Redondo Beach, CA, Rancho Bernardo, CA, OR Melbourne, FL.

The successful candidate will have the ability to analyze architecture and develop various DODAF or SysML Viewpoints in support of this effort. Designs and develops system architectures and defines key capabilities and performance requirements in creating and maintaining the Digital Engineering Ecosystem (DEE). The candidate will be developing visualizations and merging data sets across functional disciplines to bring more visibility to the end users within the program by developing analytical interfaces for data presentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in development of system architectures.
  • Architecture, CONOPS, and use case development using model-based systems engineering methodologies.
  • Automation workflow development of multi-disciplined functional processes in support of various engineering and business processes.
  • Perform system requirements analysis.
  • Maintain our Digital Ecosystem
  • Lead our Tool-to-tool integration
  • Support the program by onboarding partners into our DE environment

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 8 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 6 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience
  • Must have an active US Government Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
  • Must have familiarity with Systems Engineering
  • Must have experience collaborating across engineering disciplines to architect, design, or implement complex systems.
  • Must have experience in Model based Systems Engineering (MBSE).


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current, active Top Secret clearance
  • Experience in Aerospace Systems
  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Software Engineering.
  • Experience with Cameo Enterprise Architecture and the Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
  • Experience developing various DODAF views, especially Operational and Functional viewpoints, using MBSE tools like Cameo.
  • Experience with Agile product development
  • Experience using the Atlassian Suite.
  • Experience in Digital Ecosystem design and maturity.


Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
