Full Job Description

The Senior PreconstructionManager is responsible for preparing major projects for Operations with the capabilities and personality to develop new business opportunities by building relationships with general contractors, consultants, trade partners, and owners. This role will primarily focus on design-build and may also include engineered jobs including overseeing the Pre-Construction Managers activities

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
  • Maintaina thorough project details list that includes bridging documents, design and/or drawing updates, through pricing and proposal submission

  • Strategically plan and organize the design of the project, including attending client design meetings to review cost savings and construct-ability.

  • Understand the company’sphilosophy and systems objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policies.

  • Maintainliaison with the design team and operations until the project is awarded. Successful hand off of the project to Operations team. Supervise the preparation of all pricing quotations for presentation to the prime customer.

  • Actively manage the workload, professional development, and client development skills of the preconstruction staff

  • Analyze available preconstruction personnel and make specific project assignments to meet the pursuit

  • During preconstruction, manage the financial aspects of contracts to protect the company’s interest while maintaining good relationships with the clients

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Knowledgeof construction technology, scheduling, equipment, and methods required

  • Excellentcommunication skills with owners, architects, and design consultants

  • Thoroughunderstanding of several types of design projects and concepts including; design build, design assist, IPD, Lean and LEED

  • Self-starter

  • Makeindependent decisions and recommendations that may greatly affect profitability of assigned area

  • Knowledgeof Northwest and Portland Metro area construction markets would be a plus

  • Proficientin using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred

  • Prioritizeand manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary

  • Workunder pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude

  • Oraland written communication skills as required for the position


WHAT YOU BRING TO US:
  • Bachelor’sdegree in Construction Management or other related discipline

  • Minimum12 years’ experience in construction industry; preferably with an electrical contractor ; knowledge of construction technology

  • Business development/heavy client interaction

  • Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience

  • Proven experience mentoring and managing others.

  • Ability to understand and follow standard operating policies and procedures;

  • Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance

  • Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedure

  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle and Accubid preferred

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary

  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude

  • Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position

  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others

TRAVEL:
  • 10% to 25%


WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning

  • Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite.

  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
