Candidates should have a thorough understanding of ERCOT protocols, utility planning practices, transmission development processes, and EPC execution considerations, along with the ability to engage effectively with utility stakeholders and senior client leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert for large-load and generation interconnection studies across ERCOT and other North American transmission systems.

  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams performing transmission planning, interconnection, and grid integration studies for hyperscale data centers, renewable generation facilities, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hybrid energy projects.

  • Develop technical study methodologies, establish modeling assumptions, review analytical results, and provide quality assurance for complex power system studies.

  • Interpret and apply NERC, FERC, ERCOT, ISO/RTO, and Transmission Service Provider (TSP) requirements related to generation and large-load interconnections.

  • Lead the development, validation, and troubleshooting of steady-state, dynamic, and electromagnetic transient (EMT) models using ETAP, PSS4, PSCAD, and related industry tools.

  • Provide technical leadership for modeling and integration of:

    • Large electronic loads and hyperscale data center facilities

    • Utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage resources

    • Hybrid generation and storage systems

    • Power Plant Controllers (PPCs) and Master Plant Controllers (MPCs)

  • Lead technical evaluations supporting EPC design, Owner's Engineer services, and utility interconnection activities for:

    • Utility-scale renewable energy projects

    • Large data center developments

    • High-voltage substations and collector systems

    • Grid modernization and microgrid applications

  • Provide technical oversight for microgrid planning, design, control system integration, and resiliency assessments at both medium- and high-voltage levels.

  • Lead and support RTDS/RSCAD Control Hardware-in-the-Loop (CHIL) testing, model validation, and controller performance verification activities.

  • Serve as the primary technical interface with Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs), Transmission Service Providers (TSPs), ISO/RTO organizations, developers, EPC firms, OEMs, and regulatory stakeholders.

  • Present technical findings, defend study methodologies, and communicate project risks and recommendations to utility clients, project developers, and executive leadership teams.
