Full Job Description
Are you an experienced policy analyst looking for an exciting opportunity to work on complex and challenging issues relating to municipal governance? Are you interested in analyzing municipal issues such as jurisdictional authority, autonomy, accountability, public safety, administration and governance, and citizen engagement, while considering provincial interests and priorities and the ministry's goals, objectives and strategic plan?

The Policy and Program Services branch of the Ministry of Government Relations is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to join the Legislation and Regulation unit as a Senior Policy Advisor.

The ideal candidate will develop innovative and strategic policy approaches to complex problems, making recommendations that align with ministry goals and address emerging and long-term trends in the municipal sector.

You will clearly communicate verbally and in writing with senior management, stakeholders, Cabinet committees, and others on issues that are often complex, technical or sensitive in nature. You will advise on and prepare discussion papers, reports, legislative and regulatory amendments, Orders in Council, Cabinet documents, briefings, and ministry correspondence .

Typically, the required knowledge and skills for this position will be attained by completing a graduate degree in a related field, such as public policy or administration, political science, planning, or law. A combination of related experience and education will be considered. Applicants must clearly demonstrate in their resume or cover letter how they have gained the required knowledge and abilities.
