We are looking for a Senior Plumbing / Fire Protection Designer or Engineer who enjoys client interaction as well as the technical aspects of the position. This individual needs to have an understanding of the technical aspects of Plumbing and Fire protection design and engineering. The ability to handle multiple real-time complex projects and operational tasks while maintaining a strong work ethic and drive to deliver for clients as a collaborative colleague are necessary for this role. They will assist in the development of plumbing and fire protection systems including, but not limited to, sanitary and vent systems, storm systems, process waste systems, lab and vent systems, domestic water systems, process and lab gas systems, sprinkler system design and wet/dry/pre action systems designs. Expect project work to include all levels of design: feasibility studies, conceptual & schematic design, construction documentation, and construction administration. Project sizes will vary and will consist primarily of life science industry projects doing both existing building improvements and new construction.
Responsibilities - Assist with the generation of Schedules and Material Take-offs for procurement of equipment
- Assist with generation of Technical Bid Tab Evaluation of vendors in compliance with Client specifications
- Development of each package through Kick-off meetings, Design Reviews, FAT's etc.
- Interface with vendors and other disciplines and ensure the highest level of service is provided
- Deliver on agreed design scope within budget hours and schedule
- Assist in the development of plumbing and fire protection systems including sanitary and vent systems, storm systems, process waste systems, lab and vent systems, domestic water systems, process and lab gas systems, sprinkler system design and wet/dry/pre action systems designs
- Develop project documents (e.g. calculations, reports and construction drawings and specifications, etc.) for clients, according to regulatory and industry standards
- Coordinate with other internal disciplines as well as external team members (e.g. vendors, clients, and contractors)
- Conduct code analysis and application related to the Plumbing and Fire Protection disciplines with oversight of the Lead Engineer
- Research materials and methods as required
- Assist with design development of project packages and coordinate with the design team per the direction of the Lead Engineer
- Edit plumbing / utility equipment and construction specifications
- Equipment selections based on recommendations of the Lead Engineer and the completion of equipment schedules
- Develop pump head calculations where applicable
- Size and develop layouts for underground and above ground piping plans
- Develop P&ID's, equipment plans, plant / utility distribution plans, and system details
- Perform construction assistance in the form of submittal reviews, RFI responses, and field visits as needed
- Special projects as needed
Qualifications - 7 + Years of design experience in a design firm setting (preferably in Life Sciences industry: Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Cell & Gene Therapy sectors)
- Proven experience designing several of the following systems: sanitary and vent systems, storm systems, process waste systems, lab and vent systems, domestic water systems, process and lab gas systems, sprinkler system design and wet/dry/pre action systems
- Experience working with AutoCAD and Revit is required
- Knowledge of GMP Manufacturing environments is preferred
- The ability to travel as needed for client and project development
Pay Range Disclosure: The pay range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually. This range represents the base salary that PM Group reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered will depend on factors such as work location, qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.
