Full Job Description
Senior Payroll Administrator
Accurate and timely processing of payroll, primarily for all office (non-union) employees of the company. Will also serve as a back-up union payroll administrator, and assist with certain other union payroll functions, as necessary.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of payroll and all other sensitive data.
  • Prepare and process bi-weekly, multi-state, non-union payroll.
  • Provide timely focused advice and guidance in relation to regulatory obligations and identify and facilitate continuous improvement opportunities to reduce the risk of compliance incidents and breaches.
  • Support payroll earnings, tax, and benefit corrections as needed.
  • Review team member profiles after onboarding is completed to ensure accurate data for payroll processing
  • Prepare final payroll for terminated employees including severance and PTO payout if needed.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll, Finance and Human Resources teams to use the capabilities of the payroll system to support strategic decisions and process improvements.
  • Promptly addresses team member pay inquiries, providing a high level of service and resolving payroll issues to support team member satisfaction.
  • Complete employment and unemployment verifications and documentation as needed.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to provide resolution to employees or managers with questions about payroll policies, compliance, and pay discrepancies.
  • Administration of wage attachments and garnishments.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual W2s

Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education (GED) required
  • B.S. Degree preferred, preferably in Accounting or Business Administration

Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience administering payroll
  • Previous experience with union payroll is a plus
  • Construction industry experience is a plus

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Knowledge of:
    • General acumen with numbers and basic mathematics
    • Strong knowledge of payroll concepts and federal/state/local employment laws.
    • Advanced proficiency with Excel.

Physical and/or Travel Demands
  • No travel required.
  • Frequent sitting required - use of computer keyboard/monitor, telephone required. Occasional standing, walking, bending, stooping, and light lifting (e.g., file boxes). Must work well under pressure of time constraints.

Benefits and Compensation:
  • The range for this position has been established at $70k-$99k/year and is U.S. Engineering good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
