Senior Payroll Administrator / Corporate Accountant

Location: Meridian, Idaho

We are looking for a collaborative and solutions-oriented Senior Payroll Administrator / Corporate Accountant. If you enjoy problem-solving, thrive in a team environment, and take pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work that helps drive business success, we'd love to meet you!

The Senior Payroll Administrator / Corporate Accountant is responsible for administering all payroll functions for approximately 600 employees while supporting key accounting and financial reporting activities. This position serves as our company's subject matter expert for payroll processing, payroll compliance, prevailing wage reporting, multi-state payroll administration, employee taxation, and general payroll regulatory requirements.

In addition to payroll administration, this role performs a variety of accounting functions, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, fixed asset accounting, and support of month-end and year-end processes.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Administration
  • Process weekly and biweekly payrolls, ensuring payroll is accurate, timely, and complete.
  • Review and validate payroll data, including hours worked, overtime, leave, deductions, earnings, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Maintain payroll records, employee earnings, deductions, garnishments, benefits and employee tax information, and ensure changes to compensation, deductions, tax elections, direct deposits, and other payroll-related information are processed appropriately.
  • Calculate and process off-cycle payments, manual checks, adjustments, and other special payroll transactions as needed. Responsible for multi-state payroll compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Serve as the company's primary resource for payroll laws, wage and hour requirements, and all payroll tax matters.
  • Manage prevailing wage payroll requirements, certified payroll reporting and documentation.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, tax issues, and employee inquiries.
  • Strong understanding of payroll administration and tax compliance for foreign and immigration employees.
  • Utilize Paylocity to reconcile and review quarterly and year-end tax documents, including W2 reporting.
  • Coordinate payroll related audits and provide supporting documentation to internal and external auditors.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and efficiencies.
  • Support payroll system configuration, testing, implementation, and troubleshooting as needed.

Accounting Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare and file excise, sales, and use tax returns.
  • Assist with balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations, account analysis, and other ad-hoc requests.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, additions, transfers, and disposals.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with Company policies and accounting principles.
  • Provide accounting support to the Finance team and perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8 years of advanced accounting experience.
  • 5+ years of multi-state payroll experience.
  • Experience with prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting a plus.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and payroll tax requirements.
  • Ability to leverage accounting systems and technology for efficiency, Deltek Vantagepoint experience a plus.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee information.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
