Job Overview

The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for leading initiatives across the value stream through the development of supervisors, execution of Daily Improvement activities, optimization of labor deployment, management of the tiered escalation process, and advancement of workforce cross-training strategies. This role partners with operational leaders in the factory leadership team to build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, employee engagement, and sustainable performance.

The successful candidate will drive operational performance by developing frontline leaders, identifying process inefficiencies, implementing standardized work, and ensuring labor resources are effectively deployed to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence Leadership (TEOA)
  • Lead the implementation and sustainment of Operational Excellence (TEOA) principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Establish and maintain standardized work processes that improve safety, quality, productivity, and customer service.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action activities to eliminate recurring operational issues with an emphasis on creating a problem-solving culture at the floor level.
  • Drive execution of Lean, Kaizen, 5S, visual management, and organizational problem-solving initiatives.
  • Develop performance management systems utilizing KPIs, scorecards, operational reviews, and flow down goal setting creating goal alignment across team functions both horizontally and vertically in the organization.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational discipline throughout the department and organization.


Supervisor Development
  • Coach, mentor, and develop frontline supervisors to enhance leadership capability and operational effectiveness.
  • Build structured development plans focused on leadership behaviors, accountability, employee engagement, and problem-solving skills.
  • Conduct routine leadership development sessions and operational coaching activities via one-on-one sessions and through Gemba processes.
  • Ensure supervisors effectively manage performance, attendance, productivity, safety, and employee relations.
  • Develop succession plans and talent pipelines for key operational leadership positions with a focus on Group Leaded development.


Managing Daily Improvement (MDI)
  • Lead Tiered Daily Management System (DMS) execution across all operational areas and drive cross-functional engagement.
  • Facilitate daily operational reviews to identify performance gaps and prioritize improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure effective use of tier meetings, visual management boards, and action tracking systems.
  • Monitor and drive closure of operational action plans.
  • Utilize operational data to identify trends, track performance, and prioritize resources.
  • Foster a culture where frontline teams actively identify and resolve operational issues.


Job Requirements

Labor Deployment & Workforce Optimization
  • Develop labor deployment strategies that align staffing resources with operational demand.
  • Monitor productivity metrics and adjust workforce allocation to maximize efficiency.
  • Partner with operations leaders to establish labor standards and workforce planning models.
  • Ensure labor utilization supports service objectives while controlling operational costs.
  • Analyze staffing trends, capacity requirements, and operational constraints to improve workforce effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to improve labor flexibility and responsiveness to changing business needs.


Cross Training & Workforce Flexibility
  • Develop and execute comprehensive cross-training programs that increase workforce versatility and operational resilience while maintaining accurate integration with the AG5 system.
  • Create skill matrices and training roadmaps for operational teams.
  • Partner with supervisors to identify training gaps and prioritize skill development activities.
  • Monitor cross-training progress, certification levels, and workforce readiness metrics.
  • Improve organizational flexibility by expanding employee capabilities across multiple work areas through cooperation with other departments.
  • Support succession planning through development of multi-skilled team members.


Safety, Quality & Compliance
    • Champion a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.
    • Support quality systems and operational audits to maintain process integrity.
    • Ensure operational processes consistently meet customer expectations and service commitments.
    • Investigate operational incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Drive an overall behavior based safety culture built around employee engagement and feedback.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and operational leadership experience may be considered.


Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive operations leadership experience.
  • 3+ years leading managers and supervisors in a manufacturing or operational environment with a preference toward higher mix lower volume environments.
  • Demonstrated success implementing Operational Excellence, Lean, Continuous Improvement, or Daily Management Systems.
  • Experience managing labor planning, workforce deployment, and productivity initiatives.
  • Proven track record developing frontline leadership teams.


Preferred Certifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Operational Excellence or Continuous Improvement certifications.

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $163,000 - 203,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
