Job ResponsibilitiesTrace is seeking Senior Network Engineers to support LAN, WLAN, and WAN operations. These positions play a critical role in enhancing network security, supporting Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs), and ensuring compliance with DoD, DHA, and regional policies. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in advanced networking protocols, security technologies, and enterprise network administration within DoD environments.
The project associated with this position is currently in the proposal stage.- Enhance and maintain LAN/WLAN/WAN security, including barrier systems that prevent unauthorized access to MTF systems.
- Configure and manage firewalls, VPN technologies, and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
- Provide written technical recommendations for network changes, enhancements, or operational improvements.
- Document network changes via tickets, written standards, and coordination with the NetMOD Network Standards Team.
- Evaluate vendor products and recommend solutions that best meet DoD and regional requirements.
- Develop and enforce LAN/WLAN/WAN procedures, ensuring full compliance with DoD, DHA, and regional command directives.
- Communicate status updates and issue resolutions to key customers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across all layers of the OSI model using diagnostics and network administration tools.
- Contribute to policy development, standardization efforts, and best practice documentation.
- Establish and maintain minimum standards for LAN/WLAN/WAN access and overall network performance.
- Lead or participate in additional projects as required.
- Perform duties of subordinate roles when required, including during travel to supported sites.
In compliance with Hawaii's Pay Transparency requirements, the salary range listed below reflects the expected compensation range for this position. Actual starting compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, work location, and internal equity.
Salary Minimum: $109,221
Salary Maximum: $129,221
Minimum Qualifications- Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance.
- Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
- Must comply with DoD Directive 8570.01., Information Assurance Manager (IAM) Level III certification (or equivalent), as required by DoD 8570.01-M.
- Certifications required: CCNP and CISSP.
- Experience with DoD Health Care Information Systems required.
- Mastery of key networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, XDM, HTTP/S, SMTP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, RSTP, VRRP, BIND, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, PPP, HDLC, V.35, RS-449, and associated IEEE 802 standards (802.1d/q/w, 802.3, 802.5, 802.10, 802.11, 802.3u/z).
- Strong understanding of synchronous/asynchronous communications, Ethernet (Fast and Gigabit), FDDI, ATM, and other communications media used by DoD and DHA.
- Proficiency with OTDRs, cable testers, network sniffers, and EIA/TIA cabling standards.
- Expert-level experience in routed, switched, and shared LAN environments using Microsoft OS, Windows Active Directory, UNIX, and OpenVMS.
- Experience supporting routers, switches, terminal servers, and long-haul WAN connectivity.
Desired Qualification- Expertise with Windows networking, Cisco Systems, and SolarWinds Orion.
- Strong familiarity with Zero Trust architectures (preferred).
EducationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, and 5 years of directly related experience; OR completion of a certified technical/vocational program and 10 years of progressively complex related experience.
