About the RoleThe Senior Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for large-scale mechanical and plumbing construction projects. This position supports Design-Build, Design-Assist, and Hard Bid opportunities and works closely with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout the estimating process.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare complete Mechanical and Plumbing estimates for projects exceeding $10 million.
- Develop estimates for Design-Build, Design-Assist, and Hard Bid projects.
- Produce accurate estimates from schematic design documents.
- Prepare comparative estimates based on multiple design alternatives.
- Develop subcontractor scopes, negotiate pricing, and issue subcontracts.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing while negotiating buyout costs.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
- Perform material takeoffs, prepare purchase orders, and support project controls.
- Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders throughout the estimating process.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators.
Required Qualifications- Extensive experience estimating Mechanical Piping, Plumbing, and Heavy Construction projects.
- Proven success in a Hard Bid estimating environment.
- Experience preparing complete Mechanical and Plumbing estimates for projects valued at $10 million or more.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, front-end specifications, and project documentation.
- Experience negotiating with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- HVAC ductwork estimating experience is preferred but not required.
- Willingness to relocate for project assignments, if necessary.
