Job Title:SeniorMechanical Engineer
Reports to:Manager,Mechanical Engineering
Department: Engineering
Work Model:Full-time,On-site 6 No Travel Required
Schedule: Monday 6 Friday 8am-5pm
Job Summary
This position is responsible for the design, development, verification of assigned mechanical components to include sheet-metal / machined-metal parts and assemblies, and theoretical mechanical concepts required to integrate mechanical and electrical components into one assembly.In addition, theSeniorMechanicalEngineering will also be held accountable for peer reviews, department mentoring, and leading small project groups.
Essential Functions
Maintainadvancedworking knowledge of Crystal Group9s mechanical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor) for efficient conversion of technical requirements into schematic diagrams and assembly drawings.
Maintainadvancedunderstanding of metal parts machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.
Maintainadvancedworking knowledge of packaging techniques applied to high performance electronics for use in harsh and demanding environments.
Maintain advancedworking knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the design field.Relieson instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Recommend the proper procedures, processes, templates, and tools to correctly perform the task assigned.
Provide technical assistance for the buildingand testing of new products and systems
Provideadvancedtroubleshooting support for products in Manufacturing and Technical Services
Review mechanical drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards, as assigned
Ensure designs are producible and error free
Provideadvancedcomponent-level review and in-depth troubleshooting support forproductin Manufacturing and in the field as well as Sales department assistance
Assist the systems team in researching, designing, and evaluating systems and/or processes to meet customer requirements
Write mechanical performance requirements for product development or engineering projects
Perform detailed mechanical or fluid calculations to compute and establish manufacturing standards or specifications
Utilize engineering theory and simulation models to assess feasibility, sustainability, and operating condition effects
Compile data and write reports regarding existing or potential mechanical engineering studies or projects
Assist in the training and mentoring of new hires for the department
Maintain a high level of quality of designs with few errors
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Advancedknowledge of 3D modeling techniques
Proficientwith Finite Element Analysis and computational fluid dynamics
Proficientwith Computer Numerical Control design requirements
Advancedknowledge of computer hardware and systems integration
Advancedknowledge of mechanical component industry standards
Advancedunderstanding of commonly practiced concepts related to Mechanical Engineering theory
Multitasking skills including the ability to work across multiple software platforms
Use hand tools (caliper, micrometer, feeler gauge, fluid pressure meter, infrared thermal cameras, etc.)
Inspect and troubleshoot computer related hardware components at an assembly level
Ability to use various software programs related to engineering theory (AutoDeskinventor, AutoCAD, Ansys simulation software)
Create, read, and compare technical data sheets
Effectively lead small (1-3 member) teams on well-defined projects with moderate supervision, oversight, and coaching provided
Identify departmental process deficiencies, propose viable solutions, and implement appropriate corrective action(s) with moderate managerial support provided
Required Qualifications
Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a 4protected person)
Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or related field requiredand 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experienceor at least20+years of Mechanical Engineering experience in lieu of a degree
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of mechanical component design or manufacturing experience
5+ years of CAD software related work
Extensive knowledge of computer equipment (PC, firewall, switch, data acquisition systems, UPS, server rack equipment, etc.)
Extensiveknowledge of harsh mechanical environments
1+ year of leadership experience
Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Occasional exposure to manufacturingfloorand testing environments. May requirelifting upto 25lbs, standing for extended periods during product testing.
