Senior Mechanical Design Engineer I (MEP) - Honolulu, HI (Hybrid)
Interface Engineering Inc.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at Interface, you will be taking ownership as a discipline leader on multiple projects and play an essential role in the consulting, coordination, and completion of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems design. This position involves overseeing the planning and design of MEP systems to ensure they meet project specifications, budgets, building codes, and deadlines. Your duties will include (but may not be limited to):

1. Project planning and design:
  • Collaborate with architects, Owners, and other engineers to develop project plans, including scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments to identify potential risks and limitations.
  • Assists in the design of our projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

2. Project Implementation and Management:
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
  • Monitor and track project progress, identify and mitigate any issues or risks that may arise.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure construction activities comply with project plans and quality standards.

3. Quality Assurance and Documentation:
  • Develop and implement quality assurance processes to ensure project specifications are met.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Prepare and maintain project documents, including progress reports and meeting notes.
  • Collaborate with project team to complete post-construction reviews and lessons learned.

4. Team Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Provide guidance and technical support to multi-discipline project teams.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment by promoting effective communication and knowledge sharing.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, promoting their career growth and success.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert, providing technical expertise and guidance during project meetings and presentations.

What You'll Bring:

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, preferably mechanical engineering or building services.
  • 8+ years of proven experience in MEP design consulting in Hawaii.
  • Advanced knowledge of building industry codes and standards.
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • LEED® Accreditation
  • Working Autodesk® REVIT knowledge
