Position Information
The City of Brentwood Fleet Division is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanic to lead daily shop operations and manage workflow for the City's fleet mechanic's shop. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of the City's entire fleet, from refuse trucks, hydro excavators, and street sweepers to light-duty vehicles and heavy equipment. Along with working on vehicles, you will be responsible for issuing work orders, assigning tasks, verifying repairs, and ensuring quality standards are met. Welding experience is a strong plus. Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in the vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair experience, equivalent to a Mechanic II with the City of Brentwood.

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Possession of a valid California Class A Driver's License to be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire.
  • Possession of an Automotive Service Excellence Certificate in Automotive/Light Truck to include A4 Suspension and Steering, A5 Brakes and A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Vehicle Safety Systems Inspection Technician (ST) License is preferred.
