Senior Maximo Applications Suite (MAS) Administrator

*This job is eligible for relocation assistance to aid with the costs associated with moving to the Colorado Springs area

The Maximo team within the Information Technology department is hiring an Applications Senior for IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) Administration. In this position, you will provide system support for our water, gas, and electric utility operations. The work that you do is critical to maintaining the data integrity, reliability, compliance, and security of our MAS System. Your curiosity, ability to solve complex problems and desire to use and build your technical skills will enable Operations to continuously improve processes, find cost savings, and solve operational challenges through the use and implementation of our MAS system.

The MAS system you will support in this position is integrated with other enterprise systems which make up a complex set of hardware and software architectures. This includes but is not limited to industrial instrumentation, Geographic Information System (GIS), financial, procurement, supply chain and other software solutions. You will be responsible for collaborating with enterprise customers to provide best practices, development and implementation of MAS solutions that increase efficiencies across the organization.

Key Focus Areas:
  • Design and implement moderately complex features, components, and integrations based on functional requirements and architectural collaboration.
  • Produce high-quality, maintainable code following organization standards, best practices, and secure coding guidelines.
  • Participate in technical design discussions, analyze solution options, and provide input into architectural decisions.
  • Conduct peer reviews and provide constructive feedback to junior engineers.
  • Create and update technical documentation, including design specifications, implementation notes, and configuration details.
  • Execute medium-sized enhancements, refactors, and optimizations that improve functionality, performance, or maintainability.
  • Lead upgrades of libraries, frameworks, or components with minimal supervision, ensuring backward compatibility and stability.
  • Recommend modernization opportunities by reviewing legacy code, identifying risks, and suggesting incremental improvements.
  • Support non-production environment setup, configuration, and validation for project work and scheduled releases.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, and functional where applicable) to ensure solution quality.
  • Identify and address vulnerabilities and participate in remediating findings from security scans or compliance audits.
  • Analyze application performance, stability, and reliability issues using monitoring tools and logs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development, testing, and deployment processes, including CI/CD enhancements.
  • Uphold documentation, change management, and release management standards for all assigned work.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex application defects, outages, and performance issues across multiple system layers.
  • Lead incident analysis efforts, collaborate with support teams, and recommend long-term preventative solutions.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to reduce recurring incidents.
  • Provide technical guidance to Level I engineers during troubleshooting efforts.
  • Work closely with business analysts, QA teams, infrastructure, security, and other technical groups to deliver high-quality solutions through established project methodologies.
  • Provide technical estimates, identify dependencies, and contribute to project planning activities.
  • Assist with user acceptance testing (UAT), release coordination, and deployment planning.
  • Serve as a technical resource for business partners, helping translate technical concepts into clear, actionable information.
  • Mentor intermediate administrators in coding practices, troubleshooting techniques, and system understanding.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
  • Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities may be accepted instead of the education requirement.

Experience Requirements:
  • Most people in this occupation would have three years' experience in scripting or software development.
  • Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities may be accepted in lieu of the experience requirement.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (1/3 of the time), and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary only if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other criteria are met.
  • Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions within an office working environment.
