Senior Material Process Engineer, ADVANCED MATERIALS
McCalla, AL / Tuscaloosa, AL


As a Senior Process Engineer on the Advanced Materials team, you will be responsible for identifying and implementing supply chain initiatives in our NA JIT facilities, primarily focused on proactively planning material flow concepts, manufacturing site layouts, and performing supply chain studies prior to new program launches. This role provides technical leadership for new program launches, facility and warehouse design, labor optimization, supply chain transformations, and automation deployment initiatives.

Your work will include, but not be limited to:
  • Represent the Advanced Materials team in new program launch planning and guide production facilities and program teams toward solutions that ensure a flawless program launch.
  • Support high-proliferation customer programs with Bills of Material exceeding 2,500 components and constant engineering changes.
  • The position partners with Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, Program Management, Purchasing, IT, Finance, and Manufacturing Engineering to deliver scalable solutions that improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Create and drive continuous improvement initiatives including improving warehouse design, material flow, labor productivity, etc.
  • Benchmarking, vetting and implementing industry 4.0 (i4.0) initiatives i.e. Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs), specialty cart designs, etc.
  • Performing cost-benefit analysis and presenting projects to senior management for buyoff.
  • Utilize Maxi-MOST methodologies to establish engineered labor standards.
  • Lead RFI/RFQ process from creation of scope of work, evaluation of supplier submissions and award decisions
  • Identify external and internal supply chain constraints or issues, identify a solution, and implement the solution.
  • Utilize SAP Inventory Management (IM), Warehouse Management (WM/WMS), and EWM solutions. Analyze operational data to identify improvement opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
  • Support warehouse expansions, redesigns, consolidations, startup activities and greenfield manufacturing facilities or warehouses.

Your Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or supply chain management
  • 3-7 years of experience in material flow engineering, industrial engineering, supply chain engineering, logistics engineering, or manufacturing operations.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Project, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to build and maintain a strong relationship with internal employees and teams as well as external providers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and team-building skills.
  • Detail oriented individual with strong data analysis and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to drive change and implement projects.
  • Be a self-starter and self-motivated to manage projects without direct supervision.
  • Work on multiple projects at once and meet required deadlines.


Bonus If You Have:
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • SAP IM, WM/WMS, or EWM experience.
  • RFID, AGV, AMR, ASRS, or VLM implementation experience.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, material flow, continuous improvement initiatives, etc.
  • Experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably a JIT (just-in-time) facility.
  • German language.


Working Hours/ Expectations:
  • 4 Days a week in-office/plant per week (Hybrid schedule)
  • Travel up to 25% at times (dependent on program launch timelines, project support)
