Full Job Description
Title: Sr. Manufacturing Production Planner

Job Summary:

The manufacturing production planner will plan and establish production work schedules to meet customer deliveries and best utilize the companies' production capacities. Schedules down to each workstation by shift and helps provide accurate promise dates to the sales team.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Reviews customer order requirements, bills of material and inventory using an online MRP system to schedule raw material melts, and subsequent materials manufacturing processing operations. Monitors customer ship dates for customer orders.
  • Schedule work centers for each shift of a specified production area using the ERP system and job order production plan.
  • Create confirmed ship dates for internal and customer orders.
  • Direct the creation and release of shop orders and generate purchase requisitions for needed material in order to meet job order schedule.
  • Follow-up on work in-process to ensure conformance to set schedules, proper material movement and adjust for changes in capacity and/or customer requirements. Initiate and track order expedites as needed.
  • Works with internal departments to identify resource constraints and develop plans to meet customer requirements and resolve resource constraints.
  • Specifically, work closely with Purchasing department to assist in effective vendor coordination and responsiveness.
  • Coordinate internal demand/ sales orders from other Deringer-Ney facilities.
  • Determine recovery dates with operations input. In consort with Operations, alert Customer Service to interruptions in order fulfillment.
  • Assist production manager and plant manager in giving accurate production dates to customers and customer service representatives.
  • Assist in production job order closure.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    1. Serve as back-up to alloying technician, Materials control station clerks, and other production planners when necessary.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Must have strong analytical skills and be detail oriented.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field, APICS, CPIM certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as production or factory planner with Strong ERP/MRP system knowledge, M2M experience preferred.
  • Experience with multi-layered bills of material as well as high quantity planning preferred.
  • APICS Certification in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) highly preferred.


Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at time.
