What You Will Contribute:

Are you passionate about bringing new products to life and driving innovation on the manufacturing floor? As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Badger Meter, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of our manufacturing operations. You'll lead complex engineering initiatives, drive automation and process improvements, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure new products are designed and launched with manufacturing excellence in mind.

In this highly visible role, you'll serve as a technical leader across new product development and manufacturing operations, influencing product design, advancing automation strategies, and delivering improvements that enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. You'll also mentor fellow engineers, lead strategic projects, and help define the future of our manufacturing capabilities.

What You'll Do
  • Lead manufacturing engineering efforts for new product development projects, from concept through production launch.
  • Partner with Design Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability, assembly, and automation.
  • Develop and implement innovative manufacturing processes that improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Automated Assembly reviews.
  • Lead automation initiatives, including equipment selection, vendor management, validation, and production implementation.
  • Provide technical leadership for complex manufacturing challenges, conducting root cause analysis and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, budgets, and business objectives are achieved.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement, capacity expansion, and cost-reduction initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Develop process controls, documentation, and validation strategies to support high-quality and reliable production processes.
  • Prepare and present capital investment requests, financial analyses, and business cases for manufacturing improvements and new technologies.
  • Mentor and coach Manufacturing Engineers while serving as a technical resource across the organization.
  • Contribute to long-term manufacturing strategy, technology roadmaps, and capacity planning initiatives.
  • Support manufacturing operations and product launches as needed, including occasional weekend support.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions and manufacturing process development.
  • Strong background in automation, process improvement, and manufacturing optimization.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt required; Black Belt preferred.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and influencing stakeholders across multiple levels of an organization.
  • Ability to analyze and leverage manufacturing data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical projects is highly desirable.
Working Environment
  • Approximately 50% of time spent on the manufacturing floor or in laboratory environments and 50% in an office setting.
  • Up to 10% domestic and international travel.
  • Occasional weekend support required.
  • Audiogram testing required based on department requirements.
