As the Senior Manager, Tax - Transfer Pricing & Controversy, you will play a critical leadership role within Baxter's global tax organization, overseeing transfer pricing compliance, audit defense, and strategic transfer pricing initiatives across a complex multinational business. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on intercompany pricing policies, regulatory developments, tax risk management, and dispute resolution while helping shape Baxter's global transfer pricing strategy.
This role offers the opportunity to work across finance, accounting, legal, operations, treasury, and business leadership teams to support global operations, business transformations, acquisitions, and cross-border growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical transfer pricing expertise with strong business acumen, a process improvement mindset, and the ability to influence stakeholders across the organization.
This is a hybrid role based in Deerfield, IL.
What you'll be doing
Develop, maintain, and oversee Baxter's global transfer pricing policies, ensuring compliance with OECD guidelines and local country regulations.
Lead the preparation and governance of global transfer pricing documentation, including master files, local files, and country-by-country reporting requirements.
Partner with finance, tax, and business leaders to structure and price complex intercompany transactions and support strategic business initiatives.
Identify transfer pricing risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and support tax provision activities related to transfer pricing adjustments and uncertain tax positions.
Advise on acquisitions, business restructurings, and global expansion activities from a transfer pricing and tax planning perspective.
Lead transfer pricing audits, information requests, and dispute resolution efforts with tax authorities worldwide, including support for APAs and MAPs.
Drive process improvements, automation, and technology initiatives to enhance transfer pricing compliance, documentation quality, and audit readiness.
Manage and develop transfer pricing professionals while collaborating across tax, finance, legal, treasury, and operational teams to ensure consistent application of global policies.
What you'll bring
Bachelor's degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree and/or CPA, CTA, JD, LLM, or similar professional certification preferred.
10+ years of transfer pricing and tax controversy experience supporting complex multinational organizations preferred.
Strong knowledge of transfer pricing regulations, including IRS Section 482, OECD Guidelines, and global transfer pricing compliance requirements.
Experience supporting transfer pricing audits, controversy management, dispute resolution, and interactions with tax authorities globally.
Demonstrated expertise working with complex multinational structures, intercompany transactions, intellectual property arrangements, and transfer pricing financial models.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including experience assessing tax risks and supporting strategic business decisions.
Proven ability to influence and collaborate across functions including tax, accounting, treasury, legal, operations, and international business teams.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to translate complex tax concepts into actionable recommendations for both tax and non-tax stakeholders.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $144,000 -$198,000. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible for discretionary bonuses and long-term incentive.
