Full Job Description

Senior Manager - Tax Planning and Controversy plays a significant leadership role in global tax planning initiatives for the Ferguson tax team. Location and Travel:

This role is located out of Ferguson's corporate offices in Newport News, VA on a hybrid schedule. Ferguson will provide relocation assistance.

Remote work is an option for the ideal candidate. The remote expectation includes the ability to travel to Ferguson's corporate offices as needed. The ability to work east coast hours is essential as the corporate offices are located in Virginia. The ability to see long term potential in growth by relocating to the Corporate Offices.

Responsibilities:
  • Identifies global, federal and state tax planning opportunities and is responsible for leading planning initiatives including transfer pricing analyses, management cost allocation studies, merger and acquisition activities, restructuring and other projects.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to Tax Manager and Tax Analysts supporting these above initiatives.
  • Plays a leadership role in significant income tax audits and engages periodically in supporting indirect tax audits. Interacts with tax authorities on behalf of the company.
  • Proactively engages with Ferguson9s business partners to support their tax needs and become a trusted resource for the business leaders.
  • Handles external service providers.
  • Ensures that reporting and compliance impacts of planning initiatives are well communicated and reflected in Ferguson9s tax reporting and compliance and any SOX requirements related to projects and planning are properly accomplished.
  • Leads tax special projects and supports tax aspects of corporate wide initiatives.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of tax laws affecting the company, use knowledge of these laws to identify risks and opportunities and updates relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications:
  • 8+ years accounting firm and corporate tax experience. Exposure to international and US state planning a plus.
  • 2+ years tax planning and controversy experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of tax laws, regulations and accounting principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to interact as a proactive strategic business partner.
  • Team player with the ability to work with remote team members and support cross functional goals.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Proficient with technology commonly employed by finance and tax departments.
  • Bachelor9s degree in Finance or Accounting or related field.
  • Master9s in Taxation or CPA preferred.

Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate9s qualifications and prior experience.
