Position SummaryThe Senior Manager, Strategy and Operations, Data, Data Science and AI (DDSAI) serves as a strategic partner to DDSAI and R&D leadership, enabling data-driven decision-making across the Technology, Data, and AI portfolio.
This role uniquely combines portfolio management leadership with hands-on technical execution. The individual owns portfolio governance, strategic planning, resource management, executive reporting, and portfolio analytics - while also maintaining the technical capability to process data, automate workflows, build dashboards, and generate automated management reporting. It is an ideal role for a hands-on technical contributor seeking greater business-facing and leadership exposure.
The successful candidate blends portfolio management discipline, business operations judgment, and technical automation skills to improve visibility, governance, execution, and business value realization across the portfolio. This role acts as the bridge between leadership decision-making and operational portfolio intelligence. It enables better decisions and stronger governance without replacing leadership accountability for prioritization and investment decisions, or project teams' accountability for day-to-day execution.
Portfolio Strategy & Governance- Support portfolio governance processes across DDSAI and R&D for technology data and AI initiatives, facilitating portfolio reviews, governance boards, and leadership forums (preparing materials, synthesizing insights, and documenting decisions and follow-ups).
- Maintain portfolio prioritization frameworks and support prioritization, capacity, and resource-allocation discussions by consolidating project data, surfacing tradeoffs, and highlighting constraints.
- Identify portfolio risks, dependencies, capacity constraints, and strategic tradeoffs across initiatives.
- Support annual business planning, investment planning, and long-range financial planning, and develop portfolio recommendations for senior leadership.
Portfolio Intelligence & Decision Support- Develop portfolio dashboards, executive scorecards, and KPIs, including value-realization metrics.
- Monitor delivery performance, milestones, financials, resource utilization, and business outcomes.
- Produce insights that inform prioritization and investment decisions, translating complex technical and project information into concise executive-level recommendations.
Data Management & Technical Reporting- Extract, transform, and analyze portfolio data from multiple enterprise systems (project, finance, staffing, operational)
- Automate reporting using both deterministic and probabilistic systems
- Design portfolio data models and reusable reporting frameworks that support executive reporting and reduce manual effort.
- Establish data quality validation, controls, and master data / metadata standards.
Automation & Digital Solutions- Design and implement automated reporting solutions using enterprise-approved AI and non-AI tools.
- Build workflows that automate collection, aggregation, validation, and distribution of portfolio information.
- Identify and eliminate manual reporting activities through scalable automation.
Executive Reporting & Communications- Develop executive-ready dashboards, presentations, scorecards, portfolio review decks, business planning reports, and resource and financial summaries.
- Prepare materials for leadership team reviews, technology governance forums, R&D leadership reviews, and business planning and strategic portfolio cycles.
- Communicate portfolio performance, health, risks, and recommendations clearly, framing decisions and clarifying tradeoffs for stakeholders with competing priorities.
Project Enablement (Secondary)- Partner with project leads and project managers to strengthen planning, governance, risk/issue management, and reporting consistency across key initiatives.
- Reinforce standardized methodologies, tools, and templates, and provide coaching and best-practice support.
- Ensure project information is accurate and timely to support transparent portfolio reporting.
Continuous Improvement- Standardize portfolio management processes and reporting templates.
- Improve reporting accuracy, timeliness, and scalability.
- Champion data-driven portfolio management practices across the organization.
